The main objective of the paper is to show the importance of building partnerships with suppliers, and to present the results of research verifying the following hypothesis: Most of the furniture industry companies in Lower Silesia take into account the partnership relations with suppliers in their formulated business strategy. The study was carried out using CATI method and included a research sample consisting of 110 enterprises of Lower Silesia. Enterprises were selected using the purposive sampling method. Selection of companies was based on factors such as: regional differences, basic products and the activity period, size organizational and legal form, basic profile of activity. Interviews with companies’ managers were based on an anonymous survey questionnaire. A time frame of research included 2 phases: phase I – exploratory phase: February – May 2013 and phase II – the essential phase: up to early 2014. The studs has confirmed the formulated hypothesis. Most of the companies of the furniture industry have developed an overall strategy in the form of official or unofficial documents. They are characterized by a high degree of diversity, both in terms of accepted legal form, number of employees, year of establishment, business profile and range of operation. They see the impact of relationships with suppliers on the modernization of the products in the context of improving their quality. In dynamic supply networks, based on large degree of outsourcing, risk is increasing. In literature many different sources of risk for supply chain management were discussed. Even though there is a rich stream of literature investi-gating risk in supply chains, there has been little research applied to the precise risk that exists with inbound supply at manufacturing companies1. Manufacturers often outsource portions of their operations as a result of “make-or-buy” decisions, having it based on different reasons. In that case research in risk and its management deals with the level of inter-organizational relationships2. External suppliers represent diversified levels of innovations concerning their products and/or technologies; they are often classified as “innovative suppliers”3. Certain degree of innovation was clearly identified as a source of risk and uncertainty in supply chains4. Also the relationships between manufacturers and their suppliers may be based on partnerships or they may demonstrate more opportunistic behavior of engaged parties. The purpose of the research presented in this paper is to analyze the problem of impact of innovative suppliers on technological and behavioral risk in manufacturers’ supply chains.

Następnie zostały zrealizowane pilotażowe badania w celu uzyskania dogłębnej wiedzy na temat organizacji rdzeni dostaw w małych i średnich przedsiębiorstwach (MŚP).

This paper focuses on the collaboration practices between spin-offs and their customers and suppliers. With empirical material from seven cases of incumbentbacked spin-offs, we find that suppliers are highly involved in the development of the innovation that spin-offs are based upon and specifically, the practices of understanding customers, identifying a market gap and collaborating with suppliers. We contribute to the spin-off literature by revealing which activities are at play for successful spin-offs, and we contribute to practice theory by empirically uncovering the general understandings in the perpetuation of an organization and the nets between the spin-offs and their suppliers.

The Polish Act on Counteracting the Unfair Use of Superior Bargaining Power in the Trade in Agricultural and Food Products was adopted on 15 December 2016 and entered into force on 12 July 2017. The new legal framework resembles, in some places, the legal rules contained in the 2007 Act on Competition and Consumer Protection, elsewhere resembles the 1993 Act on Combating Unfair Competition. Therefore, the article reviews the new Polish provisions taking into account the previous system including the prohibition of the abuse of a dominant position and the prohibition of unfair competition. This publication is intended to point out the peculiarities that characterize the new provisions. Readers will find here an assessment of recent Polish developments and suggestions for further development of the Polish legal framework in the EU context. In particular, the review critically analyses some solutions of the 2018 EU draft Directive on unfair trading practices in business-to-business relationships in the food supply chain and shows what amendments to the Polish legal framework will be needed, if the Directive is adopted in the current version.
