After the promulgation of the new Code of Canon Law by the pope John Paul II in 1983 a new legislative movement started in Poland which was to change current synodal law and to update it to new norms of universal law. In the synodal documents apart from the statutes themselves there are other normative acts, usually in additions, which had been issued by the diocesan bishop earlier or during the diocesan synod. The statutes of central diocesan archives are included there and they basically apply to the diocesan historical archives. On the example of selected synodal documents this article presents the statutes of diocesan archives, in particular normative acts concerning historical archives.

Wybrane teksty statutów synodów diecezjalnych posłużyły autorom do wyodrębnienia cech leksykalno-stylistycznych charakterystycznych dla religijnych tekstów urzędowych. Ustalono, że badane teksty łączą w sobie cechy ogólnego stylu urzędowego z elementami języka religijnego. Ze stylem urzędowym łączy je specjalistyczne słownictwo (terminologia administracyjno- -prawna, kancelaryzmy, dyrektywy), analityczne struktury składniowe, a także cechy gatunkowe znamienne dla dokumentów urzędowych. Religijny aspekt omawianej odmianki zawiera się w wyspecjalizowanym słownictwie (terminologia religijna oraz leksyka ogólnoreligijna), a także w licznych odwołaniach do łaciny. Zaobserwowano też wpływ innych odmian języka religijnego (żargonu środowiskowego, języka kaznodziejskiego, tekstów modlitewnych itd.).

Selected texts of the diocesan synods’ statutes served the authors to identify the lexical and stylistic features characteristic of the official religious texts. It was determined that the analysed texts combine the features of the general official style and the elements of the religious language. The features of the official style include the technical vocabulary (the administrative and legal terminology, the formal words, the directives), the analytic syntactic structures, and the specific traits distinctive of the official documents. The religious aspect of the discussed language variant is constituted by the specialized vocabulary (the religious terminology, the general religious lexis), and the frequent references to Latin. The influence of the other religious language variants has also been observed (the community jargon, the preacher’s language, the texts of the prayers, etc.).

Urząd wikariusza parafialnego, który przeszedł długą ewolucję w Kościele, nie może być postrzegany jako wykonywanie doraźnych zadań zleconych przez proboszcza. Posługa wikariusza parafialnego nie jest też określana, jak w Kodeksie z 1917 roku, za pomocą pięciu różnych kategorii: wikariusz aktualny, zarządca, zastępca, pomocnik, współpracownik. Obecne prawo – inspirowane Soborem Watykańskim II – uznaje natomiast wikariusza za autentycznego współpracownika proboszcza i uczestnika jego troski, który jest ustanowiony do tej posługi przez biskupa diecezjalnego, aby – na zasadzie braterskiego współdziałania – sprawował pod władzą proboszcza dzieło nie tylko o charakterze duszpasterskim, ale i pasterskim (por. kan. 545 § 1 KPK/83). Obowiązki i uprawnienia wikariusza parafialnego, oprócz tych kodeksowych przyznających mu w określonych sytuacjach nawet uprawnienia do zastępowania proboszcza, zostały bardziej szczegółowo określone przez prawo partykularne. Dla lepszego zrozumienia zależności pomiędzy współpracą i autonomią wikariusza parafialnego w posługiwaniu duszpasterskim należy posłużyć się postanowieniami synodów diecezjalnych, które uwzględniając specyfikę konkretnych parafii i diecezji, określiły właściwe miejsce wikariusza parafialnego. Sprawuje on swoje posługiwanie z mandatu biskupa diecezjalnego, ale pod władzą proboszcza, z którym winien uzgadniać wszystkie plany i zamierzenia. Jako współbrat proboszcza w trosce o parafię, otrzymał on stosowną autonomię, która nie tylko pozwoli uczynić jego posługę bardziej owocną, ale i przygotowuje go do podjęcia w przyszłości samodzielnych zadań pasterskich.

The parochial vicar office, which has undergone a long evolution in the Church, cannot be regarded as performing ad hoc tasks assigned by the parish priest. The ministry of parochial vicar is also not determined, as in the 1917 Code, using five different categories: the current vicar, the administrator, the substitute, the assistant, or the associate. The current law – inspired by the Second Vatican Council – considers the vicar to be an authentic associate pastor and participant in his care, who is organized for this service by the diocesan bishop – on the principle of fraternal cooperation – to hold under the authority of the pastor, the work not only of a priestly nature, but pastoral (cf. can. 545 § 1 CPC). The duties and powers of a parochial vicar, except those of the Code conferring on him in certain situations even the power to replace the pastor, have been more specifically defined by the particular law. For a better understanding of the relationship between the cooperation and autonomy of the parochial vicar in the pastoral ministry it is highly advisable to use the provisions of the diocesan synods, which, having taken into consideration the specificity of certain parishes and dioceses, have identified the right place for the parochial vicar. He exercises his ministry with the mandate of the diocesan bishop, but under the authority of the pastor, with whom he should agree all plans and intentions. As a confrere of the pastor in the care of the parish, he has received the appropriate autonomy, which will not only make his ministry more fruitful, but will prepare him for future independent pastoral work.
