The article concerns the accounting block that once belonged to the local carpenter named Gajk (Gaÿk) who lived in Seenwalde (Piasutno). The finding of the receipt book, that has become the author’s property, gave the opportunity to learn more about the lives of the old inhabitants of Piasutno. Thanks to the book, one can, in a way, follow through both their names and some aspects of their everyday lives, concerning various pecuniary liabilities that they were once subjected to. The receipt book consists of 49 bills, made out before 1940. All the receipts were filled with the indelible pencil and have remained in a perfect shape till now. The receipt book was found in the attic of the old house that used to belong to Gajk (Gaÿk). It had been hidden behind one of the roof rafters for 62 years. The tapes of liabilities, the number of payments year by year and the shortened information about selected taxpayers’ fates were shown in the form of tables. Moreover, the article presents the copy of the Seenwalde map from 1945. Despite the number of imponderables, the found receipt book testifies to the way of living of East Prussia inhabitants during the time it was the part of Germany.
