The present article attempts to reconstruct, in terms of language, the picture of a table on the basis of Polish proverbs, idiomatic phrases, etymology and lexical-graphical definitions of the word "table". Word formation sets with the lexeme "table" were analysed, most of which were terminology expressions, as well as collocations listed in dictionaries. The basic aspects in the linguistic picture of the artifact are: the use and appearance of a table — clearly interrelated. The majority of the gathered lexicographical material comes from the resources of Old Polish language which is why in the linguistic picture of a table there are two clearly visible points of view: one of a nobleman and another of a peasant. From the perspective of a nobleman, a table appears both as a place which designates or, rather, asserts high social status and as a place where the code of savoir-vivre must be obeyed. “Full” table as a reward for work is a picture built from the perspective of a peasant.

The article concerns the accounting block that once belonged to the local carpenter named Gajk (Gaÿk) who lived in Seenwalde (Piasutno). The finding of the receipt book, that has become the author’s property, gave the opportunity to learn more about the lives of the old inhabitants of Piasutno. Thanks to the book, one can, in a way, follow through both their names and some aspects of their everyday lives, concerning various pecuniary liabilities that they were once subjected to. The receipt book consists of 49 bills, made out before 1940. All the receipts were filled with the indelible pencil and have remained in a perfect shape till now. The receipt book was found in the attic of the old house that used to belong to Gajk (Gaÿk). It had been hidden behind one of the roof rafters for 62 years. The tapes of liabilities, the number of payments year by year and the shortened information about selected taxpayers’ fates were shown in the form of tables. Moreover, the article presents the copy of the Seenwalde map from 1945. Despite the number of imponderables, the found receipt book testifies to the way of living of East Prussia inhabitants during the time it was the part of Germany.

The verses of this didactic psalm present priests’ advice given to the pilgrims arriving to the temple. This is a pilgrims’ psalm characterized by specific metre. The whole PS 128 is divided into two parts, therefore we analyze only its three verses; 1-3. They present a positive, blissful vision of family life. This composition stimulates families to live according to God’s low, in awe of the Lord which leads to happiness and longevity. It portrays the outcomes of human’s work as those which give him fulfillment and wellness. It presents offspring as a God’s gift to human being and a family as a community who experiences wellness, serenity and fertility. These are the aspects of human’s life in perspective of retribution to God, His justice and benevolence. We may also notice in these three verses the multitude of ancient Israel symbolism.
