The paper discusses the claim that borders and frontiers are a source of experience, and at the same time a category which describes Haupt’s prose well. In his works, the border category appears in the form of a line marking clear delimitation, and in the form of a buffer zone between different areas. Haupt translates the geographical-political notion of a border into axiology, epistemology, interpersonal experience and writing techniques. His fascination with borders expresses seeking a convenient place which would allow one to perceive the world and text as a complex order situated on the opposite pole to the undifferentiated chaos of the modern reality.

Główną tezą artykułu jest stwierdzenie, że granica i graniczność to doświadczenie źródłowe i zarazem kategoria dobrze opisująca strategię twórczą Haupta. W twórczości tego autora kategoria granicy pojawia się w wersji linii oznaczającej wyrazistą delimitację i w postaci strefy przejściowej pomiędzy różnymi obszarami. Geograficzno-polityczne pojęcie granicy Haupt przekłada na język aksjologii, epistemologii, doświadczenia międzyludzkiego i techniki pisarskiej. Fascynacja granicą jest wyrazem poszukiwania dogodnego miejsca umożliwiającego postrzeganie świata i tekstu jako skomplikowanego porządku sytuującego się na biegunie przeciwnym wobec niezróżnicowanego chaosu rzeczywistości nowoczesnej.
