Prasa, jako środek masowego przekazu wiadomości i określonych treści ideowo-wychowawczych, miała podnosić poziom świadomości społecznej ludności, jej kultury i wiedzy, w tym o religii i Kościele katolickim, w duchu panującej ideologii. Obraz Stolicy Apostolskiej i papieży z lat 1972–1989 wyłaniający się z omawianych tekstów ukazuje te podmioty jako instytucje polityczne. W tym czasie z wystąpień publicznych papieży i przedstawicieli Kurii Rzymskiej dobierano, cytowano, a nawet parafrazowano w artykułach prasowych słowa tak, by były zbieżne z poglądami PZPR lub służyły jej propagandzie. Na poziomie zwłaszcza najwyższej hierarchii upatrywano sojuszników, próbując też przedstawiać ich w ten sposób. Analiza tekstów poświęconych Kościołowi pozwalała wskazać, że Kościół traktowany był jako zbyt poważna i niezależna siła, by krytykować go otwarcie. Dlatego, zwłaszcza w latach 80., przyjęto perspektywę dialogu z Kościołem. W krytyce zaś Kościół bywał przedstawiany w opozycji do państwa komunistycznego, a dotyczyło to m.in. hierarchii wartości, praw społecznych, odniesienia do państw o innych ustrojach politycznych.

The press, as a medium of mass communication of news and specific ideological and educational content, was to raise the level of social awareness of the population, its culture and knowledge, including religion and the Catholic Church, in the spirit of the prevailing ideology. The image of the Holy See and the popes from 1972–1989 emerging from the texts under discussion shows these entities as political institutions. At that time, words were selected, quoted and even paraphrased in press articles from the public appearances of popes and representatives of the Roman Curia so that they were consistent with the views of the Polish United Workers’ Party or served its propaganda. At the level of the highest hierarchy in particular, allies were perceived, and attempts were also made to present them in this way. An analysis of the texts devoted to the Church showed that the Church was treated as too serious and independent a force to openly criticize it. Therefore, especially in the 1980s, the perspective of dialogue with the Church was adopted. In criticism, the Church was sometimes presented in opposition to the communist state, and this concerned, inter alia, hierarchy of values, social rights, references to countries with other political systems.

On the ground of the Erga Migrantes Caritas Christi 2004 instruction, the situation of refugees and expellees requires not only new analyzes and defining their position in the Universal and diocese Churches, but due to the dynamics of the migration phenomenon it is repeatedly necessary to update the pastoral tasks towards these categories of migrants. Political and social unrest in the first two decades of the twenty-first century was a catalyst for the development of the Apostolic See statement: Adoption of Christ in the refugees and forcibly expelled.

Na fundamencie instrukcji Erga migrantes caritas Christi z 2004 roku sytuacja uchodźców i wypędzonych wymagała nie tylko nowych analiz i zdefiniowania ich sytuacji w Kościele Powszechnym oraz w Kościołach diecezjalnych, ale ze względu na dynamikę zjawiska migracji wciąż na nowo konieczna jest aktualizacja zadań duszpasterskich wobec tych kategorii migrantów. Niepokoje polityczne i społeczne w pierwszych dwóch dekadach XXI wieku były swoistym katalizatorem wypracowania przez Stolicę Apostolską instrukcji: Przyjęcie Chrystusa w uchodźcach i przymusowo wypędzonych.
