Artykuł niniejszy podejmuje problem badań nad recepcją twórczości osób głuchoniewidomych. Celem artykułu jest więc próba odpowiedzi na pytania: czy odbiorcy dostrzegają różnice w ocenach poszczególnych grup rzeźb i czy różnice te odzwierciedlają podziały głuchoniewidomych twórców w zależności od rodzaju dysfunkcji i stopnia opanowania języka. Klucz do tak skonstruowanych badań stanowi teza Herdera–Humboldta, która mówi o nadrzędnej roli języka w postrzeganiu świata. Teza ta w interpretacji S. Grabiasa brzmi: „Język buduje w umysłach ludzkich obraz rzeczywistości. Żyjemy w takim świecie, jaki nam język zaprojektuje. Różne języki budują różne obrazy świata”. Rolę odbiorców dzieł głuchoniewidomych artystów pełnią, przygotowani do interpretacji sztuki, studenci Wydziału Artystycznego UMCS.

The present article focuses on the issues pertaining to the research on the reception of the creative output of deaf-blind people. The aim of the paper is to answer the following questions: do recipients (audiences) perceive any qualitative difference as regards particular groups of sculptures and do any of these differences reflect the types of disabilities that the deaf-blind artists are affected by and/or the level of their linguistic competence. The recipients of the creative output produced by the deaf-blind artists in question are students of Maria Curie-Skłodowska University’s Arts Department, who are fully competent as far as art criticism is concerned.
