The elaboration of methodological instruments of the history of Ukrainian philosophy as a field of historical and philosophical science takes on special significance at the current stage of its development. The article evolves in a summary form the results of a comprehensive study of modern methodological problems of the history of Ukrainian philosophy and its possible solutions carried out by the author.

На сучасному етапі розвитку історії української філософії як галузі історико-філософської науки особливого значення набуває розробка її методологічного інструментарію. Це пояснюється перш за все тим, що за останні десятиріччя зусилля більшості дослідників історії української філософії через низку об’єктивних причин були спрямовані фактично на відродження творчої спадщини вітчизняних мислителів різних історичних епох, течій, шкіл та напрямків, її опис, систематизацію та аналіз. Тому не випадково у наукових працях у галузі історії української філософії переважав дескриптивний (описовий) підхід. Він не втратив свого значення і сьогодні, адже ще наприкінці 1980-х — на початку 1990-х років у нашому науковому обігу були майже відсутні тексти переважної більшості вітчизняних мислителів минулого, за винятком деяких найбільш впливових та найбільш відомих постатей української філософської думки.
