Local government units are legally obliged to carry out a number of tasks in the foster care system for children. These tasks generally referred to the Family and Guardianship Code specifies support for families and foster care system. The proper execution of these tasks requires appropriate forms of action. The paper presents: the type and form of tasks as well as and the legal action and actual actions taken in the field by the various local government units.

On the 10th of April 2010 at Smolensk took place a plane crash in which President Lech Kaczynski died. For this reason in the Summer 2010 were held early Polish Presidential elections. While in the autumn elections were held for local government. This article consists of two parts. The first section discusses the major issues related to the election of the President of Poland that took place in Szczecin. The second part describes the most important events connected with the choice of representatives to local government in the above-mentioned city. Discussed included, inter alia, elections to the Szczecin City Council and Mayor of Szczecin. At the end describes the electoral preferences of the inhabitants of Szczecin.

Artykuł składa się z dwóch części. W części pierwszej omówiono najważniejsze kwestie związane z elekcją Prezydenta RP, jakie miały miejsce na terenie Szczecina. W części drugiej opisano najistotniejsze wydarzenia związane z wyborem przedstawicieli do władz samorządowych w ww. mieście. Omówiono m.in. wybory do Rady Miasta Szczecina oraz na Prezydenta Miasta Szczecina. Na koniec opisano preferencje wyborcze mieszkańców Szczecina.
