The aim of the article is to present basic guidelines of tutoring and the possibilities of applying it while working with a shy child. Shyness constitutes one of the largest threats for the child’s social and emotional development in the preschool and school period, because it makes it difficult to establish contacts with other people, express one’s opinions, views and it also has a negative influence on one’s sense of self-worth. Therefore, the actions supporting shy people are very significant. One of them might be tutoring, which is a method of bringing out one’s potential which occurs as the result of the individual, supportive relationship with another person – the tutor. The article describes the stages of tutoring, its goals and tasks, as well as it presents the course of the author’s original tutorials – the tutor’s (the author of the article) meetings with a 12-year-old shy child.

Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie podstawowych założeń tutoringu oraz możliwości jego wykorzystania w pracy z dzieckiem nieśmiałym. Nieśmiałość stanowi jedno z największych zagrożeń dla rozwoju społeczno-emocjonalnego dziecka w okresie przedszkolnym i szkolnym, ponieważ utrudnia nawiązywanie kontaktów z innymi ludźmi, wyrażanie własnych opinii, poglądów oraz wpływa negatywnie na poczucie własnej wartości. W związku z tym bardzo ważne są działania wspierające osoby nieśmiałe. Jednym z nich może być tutoring, czyli metoda wydobywania ukrytego potencjału jednostki, które następuje w indywidualnej, wspierającej relacji z drugą osobą – tutorem. W artykule zostały scharakteryzowane etapy tutoringu, jego cele i zadania oraz przedstawiony przebieg autorskich tutoriali – spotkań tutora (autora artykułu) z 12-letnim dzieckiem nieśmiałym.
