The article describes the season 1929/1930 when Maria Strońska became the manager of the Ateneum Theatre. The main purpose of this article is to present Strońska’s artistic vision, her programme plans and her concept of theatre for working class, which she created. As the article unfolds, the repertoire of the Ateneum is reconstructed and questions are asked about the difficulties that the manageress encountered while implementing her vision. The article is based on a comparative analysis of the preserved documents, i.e. memories, reviews and the manageress’ press statements.
