Akta personalne profesorów wydziałów teologicznych uniwersytetów II Rzeczypospolitej

Six universities were operating in the Second Republic; theological faculties were established at five of them: Jagiellonian University, Jan Kazimierz University in Lviv, Stefan Batory University in Vilnius, Warsaw University and Catholic University of Lublin. The theological faculties employed a total of 80 professors in the interwar period. The source base we have at our disposal while researching the professorial staff of theological faculties is remarkably rich. Personal files in particular are of great importance. Such materials are to be found in the Archive of New Files in the fond Ministry of Religious Denominations and Public Enlightenment. Such records are also kept in: Lithuanian Central State Archive in Vilnius, Lviv State Regional Archive, Jagiellonian University Archive and University Archive of the Catholic University of Lublin. The documents that can be found in the personal file most often relate to: matters of employment of professors, scientific activity, performance of teaching duties, social issues. Almost every file contains the professor’s curriculum vitae and a list of his scientific achievements.

W II Rzeczypospolitej funkcjonowało sześć uniwersytetów, wydziały teologiczne utworzono na pięciu z nich: Uniwersytecie Jagiellońskim, Uniwersytecie Jana Kazimierza we Lwowie, Uniwersytecie Stefana Batorego w Wilnie, Uniwersytecie Warszawskim i Katolickim Uniwersytecie Lubelskim. Na wydziałach teologicznych w okresie międzywojennym zatrudnionych było w sumie 80 profesorów. Baza źródłowa, którą dysponujemy, badając kadrę profesorską wydziałów teologicznych, jest bogata. Duże znaczenie mają szczególnie akta personalne. Materiały takie znajdujemy w Archiwum Akt Nowych w zespole Ministerstwo Wyznań Religijnych i Oświecenia Publicznego. Taką dokumentację przechowują także: Litewskie Centralne Archiwum Państwowe w Wilnie, Lwowskie Państwowe Archiwum Obwodowe, Archiwum Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego i Archiwum Uniwersyteckie Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego. Dokumenty, które można znaleźć w aktach personalnych najczęściej dotyczą: spraw zatrudnienia profesorów, aktywności naukowej, realizacji obowiązków dydaktycznych, spraw socjalnych. Prawie w każdej teczce znajduje się życiorys profesora i wykaz jego dorobku naukowego.
