The so-called “six main truths of faith” is a local Polish catechetical tradition since 19th century on. Does it mean that these “truths” do not fit with the teaching of the Catholic Church in the world and do not encompass the fundamental truths of the Catholic doctrine? Is the formulation of these truths compatible with the “main” truths of the Catholic faith? This article is an attempt to answer these questions. Firstly, the interpretation of the “six main truths of faith” is given in the light of the teaching of the Catechism of the Catholic Church and from the perspective of some contemporary Catholic theologians. Secondly, the Autor presents his own, slightly modified, version of the “six main truths of faith”.

Tak zwane sześć głównych prawd wiary to lokalna, polska tradycja katechetyczna, której początki sięgają katechizmów z XIX w. Czy to oznacza, że prawdy te nie odpowiadają nauczaniu Kościoła katolickiego na świecie i nie obejmują podstawowych doktryn wiary katolickiej? Czy wszystkie są dobrze sformułowane i rzeczywiście mogą być uznane za „główne” prawdy wiary katolickiej? Artykuł jest próbą odpowiedzi na te pytania. Jego struktura jest prosta: najpierw zinterpretowanych jest „sześć głównych prawd wiary” w duchu nauczania Katechizmu Kościoła Katolickiego oraz w odniesieniu do kilku współczesnych teologów katolickich; następnie autor dokonuje podsumowania i przedstawia swoją, nieco zmodyfikowaną, listę „sześciu głównych prawd wiary”.
