Dzieci i młodzież szkolna, w zależności od celu i motywu podróży, uprawiają takie formy turystyki jak: kulturowa, poznawcza, edukacyjna, przyrodnicza i krajoznawcza. W wielu przypadkach uczestnictwo w wycieczkach uwarunkowane jest możliwością uzyskania przez placówkę szkolną dofinansowania do wyjazdu. Zrealizowane w krakowskich gimnazjach badania wykazały, że wśród organizowanych wyjazdów zagranicznych znaczną część stanowią podróże na Kresy Wschodnie. Utracone po II wojnie światowej dawne obszary Rzeczypospolitej oraz pozostałe tam dziedzictwo związane z jej kulturą i społeczeństwem są nośnikami informacji i źródłem prawdy historycznej. Podróże gimnazjalistów w te regiony wspierane są finansowo przez lokalny samorząd. Celem opracowania jest przedstawienie programu „Poznanie dawnych Kresów Wschodnich Rzeczypospolitej przez krakowskich gimnazjalistów” w kontekście szkolnego ruchu turystycznego, w którym udział biorą uczniowie szkół gimnazjalnych z Krakowa.

The paper presents issues referring to school sightseeing trips and tourism. The author broadly describes the image of a teacher whose task is to show the beauty of the country to his/her students (native country teacher), the way the teacher is perceived by students and the ideal characteristics in the young people’s opinion. The ideal image is based on the survey carried out among students. The paper also discusses the problems of a personality of native country teachers, as well as their education, training, and professional development. The paper attempts to answer the following questions: To what extent does the model of a native country teacher, especially as a guide of school trips and walking tours postulated by literature and youth adhere to reality? How many teachers are actually prepared, engaged, and willing to conduct didactic and educational classes outside the classroom in the field of sightseeing and tourism? Where do the teachers corresponding with the presented personality traits of the model guide of school trips and walking tours come from? Edukacja szkolna kojarzy się głównie z kilkugodzinnym siedzeniem w szkole, z lekcjami: geografii, chemii, historii czy też języka polskiego. Przekazywana wiedza jest często fragmentaryczna, wyrwana z szerszego kontekstu. Wycieczka, aktywność turystyczna w szkole jest jedną z form procesu dydaktyczno-wychowawczego. Celem podjętych badań było określenie współoddziaływań aktywności turystycznej i rekreacyjnej dzieci i młodzieży oraz edukacyjnej roli wyjazdów w wybranych placówkach szkolnych. Podmiotem badań byli uczniowie, rodzice oraz grono pedagogiczne.

School education is mainly associated with passive reception of information during school lessons, like geography, chemistry, history or Polish language. Furthermore, students do not notice the dependencies between nature and social environment. As a result, children and adolescents often do not know how to relate knowledge to the surrounding reality. Excursions and tourist activity in school are one of the forms of the teaching process. The aim of this study was to identify synergies between tourist activity and recreation of children and youth, and the educational role of mobility. The article presented examples of tourism activities in schools (elementary school, middle school and high school) like organizing trips, special interest clubs etc. The research and subsequent analysis were performed on three social groups; teachers, students and parents. The article’s conclusion shows that the organization and execution of school trips play an important role in the cognitive process.
