Artykuł obejmuje problematykę istoty i znaczenia znaków legitymacyjnych w polskim prawie cywilnym. Poruszane zagadnienia koncentrują się przede wszystkim na odpowiednim zastosowaniu przepisów o umorzeniu znaków legitymacyjnych, co do których stosuje się przepisy o umorzeniu akcji. Autor prezentuje poglądy doktryny, podejmuje próbę krytycznej analizy obecnych rozważań przedstawicieli prawa oraz prezentuje najważniejsze tezy z orzecznictwa.

Purpose of the article is to present the problem of instruments of entitlement and their meaning in the Polish civil law. The subject in question mainly raises the issue of the appropriate application of regulations concerning the redemption of instruments of entitlement, to which provisions regarding share redemption are applied. The author discusses the standpoint of jurisprudence, attempts to analyze current voice of doctrine representatives, as well as presents the most important arguments of the judicature.
