The work is devoted to the analysis of the Florian Znaniecki’s idea of the relationships between two systems of values – the social one and the economic one. The presented analysis focuses on the Znaniecki’s theses in the reference to the current market approach to education.
The article approaches the problem of assessment of contemporary higher education system considering value statements of the growing up youth, the way young adults approach it, its place in European arena, possibilities it creates for graduates in the labour market; the articles poses a question concerning transformation effi ciency, which one can observe in education at present. The leading issue being discussed in the article is the following question: Where is contemporary education heading and is it heading the right direction? Moreover, the articles attempts to answer the following question: What does better preparation of students and graduates of higher education institution for the labour market challenges mean and what are the consequences associated with this project, both the way education is discussed and perceived?
