Przedmiotem niniejszego opracowania było zagadnienie utraty wartości kredytów udzielonych przez banki. Omówiono w tym zakresie obowiązujące krajowe i międzynarodowe standardy rachunkowości. Wykazano różnice pomiędzy tymi regulacjami. Przeprowadzono badania, które wykazały, że standardy międzynarodowe są mniej restrykcyjne i zezwalają na tworzenie niższych odpisów aktualizujących niż polskie przepisy.

This article was about the issue of impairment of loans granted by banks. The national and international standards on this subject were discussed and the differences between these regulations have been shown. The studies were presented which showed that international standards are less restrictive and allow the creation of lower impairment losses than the Polish regulations.
