Historical auxiliary sciences has lately been noticed to come to vogue among scholars, inclu-ding Church historiographers in Poland. One example here is vexillology which deals with banners as real and symbolic military, national and territorial signs of organizations as well as social and religious groups. It retains a strong connection with heraldry from which it originates. The article covers the history and symbolism of the School Military Training Team banner of the Salesian Gym-nasium of Pius XI in Różanystok from1933.

The following article is devoted to vexillological research and conservation aspects of the 20th-century veterans’ banner of the Insurgents and Warriors Society (TPiW) from Zdziechowa against the background of the regional tradition of the Wielkopolska Uprising. The work has three objectives. The first is the verification of archival materials, placed in the historical context of the battle of Zdziechowa and the development of the Insurgents and Warriors Society (the history of its establishment, the assumptions adopted and the figures of veterans). The second – identification of the kind and type of banner, its construction, and the technique and technology of its manufacture, together with the determination of the state of its preservation and the indication of the causes of the damage it has received. In addition, an attempt was made to determine the provenance of the banner, its dating, and to identify the manufacturing plant (workshop) in which it was made. The conducted study involved scientific consultation, research of source materials, as well as comparative analysis of analogously dated objects. The obtained results of the formal and content analysis and their interpretation constitute the content of this article.

Poniższy artykuł poświęcony jest badaniom weksylologicznym oraz problematyce konserwatorskiej XX-wiecznego sztandaru kombatanckiego Towarzystwa Powstańców i Wojaków ze Zdziechowy na tle regionalnej tradycji powstania wielkopolskiego. W pracy podjęto trzy zasadnicze cele. Pierwszym jest weryfikacja materiałów archiwalnych, ujęta w kontekście historycznym bitwy pod Zdziechową oraz rozwoju TPiW (historii jego powstania, przyjętych założeń oraz postaci kombatantów). Drugim – identyfikacja rodzaju i typu sztandaru, jego konstrukcji oraz techniki i technologii wykonania wraz z określeniem stanu zachowania i wskazaniem przyczyn powstałych zniszczeń. Ponadto podjęto próby ustalenia proweniencji sztandaru, jego datowania i określenia zakładu produkcyjnego (warsztatu), w którym powstał. Opracowanie przedmiotu badań zostało przeprowadzone na podstawie konsultacji naukowych, badań materiałów źródłowych, a także analiz porównawczych analogicznie datowanych obiektów. Uzyskane wyniki analizy formalnej i treściowej oraz ich interpretacja stanowią treść niniejszego artykułu.
