The current stage of agricultural modernization focuses on limiting the further industrialization of agricultural households by embedding them in social networks which favour balanced development. Such adjustment is connected with the development of knowledge based economy and the necessity of growth, in the realisation of which, according to the “constant reconstruction” scenario of Europe 2020 strategy, this sector of economy has to participate once again. The aim of this case study is the identification of social networks which serve the diffusion of knowledge and information in the Opole voivodeship agriculture and evaluation of their significance in decision making processes by the managers of agricultural households. The case study focuses also on the problem of institutional innovations needs which serve joining the research institutes and universities to these networks. Intelligent specialization of agricultural households based on knowledge is found to be the main feature of the current stage of agricultural modernization.

Obecny etap modernizacji rolnictwa polega na ograniczeniu dalszej industrializacji gospodarstw rolnych przez ich osadzenie w sieciach społecznych sprzyjających zrównoważonemu rozwojowi. Takie ich zakorzenienie jest związane z rozwojem gospodarki opartej na wiedzy i przymusem wzrostu, w którego realizacji, zgodnie ze scenariuszem „trwałej odbudowy” strategii Europa 2020, ten sektor gospodarki ma ponownie uczestniczyć. Celem opracowania była identyfikacja sieci społecznych służących dyfuzji wiedzy i informacji w rolnictwie regionu opolskiego oraz określenie ich znaczenia w procesach podejmowania decyzji przez kierowników gospodarstw rolnych. Podjęto także problem potrzeby innowacji instytucjonalnych służących włączeniu do tych sieci instytutów badawczych i uczelni wyższych. Opartą na wiedzy inteligentną specjalizację gospodarstw rolnych uznano w opracowaniu za główną cechę obecnego etapu modernizacji rolnictwa.
