Współczesne przedsiębiorstwa, funkcjonujące w turbulentnym otoczeniu, muszą stale dostosowywać się do pojawiających się zmian. Niezbędne jest zatem posiadanie przez przedsiębiorstwa odpowiednich kompetencji, umożliwiających zdobycie i utrzymanie wysokiej pozycji konkurencyjnej w długim okresie. Konieczne jest odpowiednie identyfikowanie i analizowanie sygnałów z otoczenia, mających wpływ na aktualną i przyszłą sytuację przedsiębiorstwa, oraz określenie kluczowych kompetencji, umożliwiających funkcjonowanie organizacji w przyszłości. Istotną pomocą mogą służyć profesjonalni doradcy, którzy swoją wiedzą oraz doświadczeniem w bezstronny i obiektywny sposób wspomagają identyfikowanie oraz doskonalenie kompetencji organizacji. W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań empirycznych przeprowadzonych w polskich przedsiębiorstwach, których celem była identyfikacja czynników wspierających i utrudniających identyfikowanie i niwelowanie luki kompetencyjnej.

Contemporary enterprises functioning in a turbulent environment have to continuously adapt to new challenges. Therefore, it is necessary for an enterprise to have adequate competencies which will provide it with a permanent competitive advantage and let it function and develop in a long-term perspective. Thus it is necessary to adequately identify and analyze the signals coming from the environment, taking into account their influence on the current and future situation of the company as a whole, and also predicting on the basis of such signals the directions of the changes in the environment and core competences which condition the company's functioning in the future. Substantial support in this area can be provided by professional consultants who, due to their knowledge and experience, back up their client's enterprise in an objective and independent way, identifying and improving the competence. The paper presents the results of empirical research performed in order to determine the factors that support or hinder the identification of competence gap in Polish enterprises.
