Events organized in cities are perceived as an important stimulus of tourism development. This refers especially to post-industrial cities, having problems with, among others, a negative image, which hinders them from staying competitive in the market. The aim of the paper is to evaluate the level to which selected post-industrial cities located in Southern Poland use events to support their development in the field of tourism. The author made a literature review to show the functions that cultural, sports, and business events can fulfil in the cities they are organized in. What is more, ways of measuring the impact of the events on achieving the aims included in the cities development strategies were indicated. The development strategies of post-industrial cities were analysed to draw conclusions concerning the aim of the article.

Celem artykułu jest identyfikacja kluczowych przesłanek dla uznania wydarzeń biznesowych jako atrakcyjnych produktów współczesnych obiektów sportowych. Dla osiągnięcia celu pracy zastosowano metody analizy i syntezy, głównie z wykorzystaniem źródeł wtórnych, z dostępnych raportów instytucji krajowych i zagranicznych oraz informacji zawartych w ofertach wybranych stadionów. Badania autora wskazują na kilka czynników przemawiających za dużym znaczeniem wydarzeń biznesowych jako produktów uzupełniających ofertę współczesnych stadionów i oddziałujących na różne aspekty funkcjonowania oraz rozwoju tych obiektów i regionu. Badanie i wnioskowanie koncentruje się na stosunkowo nowych, wielkich, znanych i wielofunkcyjnych obiektach sportowych. Tematyka zastosowania wydarzeń biznesowych w różnych obiektach spotkań w Polsce jest przedmiotem wielu publikacji, jednak próby pokazywania ich jako uzupełniającego produktu stadionów są jeszcze rzadko spotykane i wymagają ich dalszych badań. Artykuł ma charakter przeglądowy, a zarazem prezentuje pewną koncepcje teoretyczną możliwości rozwoju produktu współczesnych stadionów.

The aim of the article is to identify key premises to recognize business events as attractive products of contemporary sports stadiums. To achieve this goal, the autor used methods of analysis and synthesis, facilitating mainly secondary sources, available reports from national and foreign institutions, as well as the information available on offer of chosen stadiums. The author’s research points to a few factors in favor of the significance of business events as products supplementing the stadiums’ offer, and influencing various operational and developmental aspects of these facilities and their regions. The research and reasoning is concentrated on relatively new, large, well-known, and multifunctional sports facilities. The topic of using business events in various meeting spots in Poland is the subject of many publications, but the attempts to show them as stadiums’ supplementary products are still rarely seen and require further research. The article is a survey in nature, at the same time presenting a certain theoretical concept of the ability of developing the product of contemporary stadiums.

Background. Specialised associations and eminent individuals contribute to present day fighting arts as an area of research and as a cultural phenomenon. This, in turn turns imperceptibly into history. Is it not worth monitoring these events on an ongoing basis, and recording the facts? Inevitably the choice will always be subjective. Problem. The cognitive aim of the study is a factual analysis of the environment (martial arts and combat sports and warrior cultures), and in particular the researchers in this field. The study is based on the city of Rzeszow, the home of the Idokan Poland Association (IPA), and IMACSSS, and also takes a wider international view. Scientific and methodological events and new literature on the subject are reviewed. Method. The main qualitative method used here is the multiple case study research method , both descriptive and interpretive, and evaluative. Data was collected between November 2019 and November 2020 and in many cases, the authors were direct observers of the events. The publications however were evaluated using the content analysis method. Results and Conclusions. A series of events was identified and evaluated in short reviews, as well as a series of publications which are all of interest given the thematic profile of our Journal. The situation of both the fighting arts environment and researchers in the field is being monitored on an ongoing basis, with photographic and descriptive documentation.

Tło. Wyspecjalizowane stowarzyszenia oraz wybitne jednostki współtworzą teraźniejszość fighting arts, jako jednocześnie obszaru badań i fenomenu kulturowego. To zaś niepostrzeżenie przekształca się w historię. Czy nie warto monitorować tych wydarzeń na bieżąco, spisując ich faktografię? Siłą rzeczy, będzie to zawsze dobór subiektywny. Problem. Celem poznawczym badania jest faktograficzny opis i analiza środowiska (sztuk walki i sportów walki oraz kultur wojowników), szczególnie badaczy tego obszaru. Badanie dotyczy miasta Rzeszowa, siedziby SIP (i IMACSSS) oraz szerszej skali międzynarodowej. Dokonano przeglądu wydarzeń naukowych i metodyczno-szkoleniowych oraz nowej literatury przedmiotu. Metoda. Główną zastosowaną tutaj metodą jakościową jest badanie wielu studiów przypadku, zarówno opisowe, interpretacyjne, jak i oceniające. Dane gromadzono między listopadem 2019 r. a listopadem 2020. W wielu przypadkach autorzy byli bezpośrednimi obserwatorami wydarzeń, a publikacje były oceniane przy użyciu metody analizy treści. Wyniki i wnioski. W krótkich recenzjach wskazano i oceniono szereg wydarzeń, a także szereg publikacji, interesujących z punktu widzenia profilu tematycznego naszego czasopisma. Sytuacja środowiska sztuk walki i badaczy jest na bieżąco monitorowana za pomocą dokumentacji fotograficznej i opisowej.

Aim. The aim of the Chronicle is to gather source material in order to document the history and development of the institutions of cultural studies, martial arts and cultural tourism. It is also a review of publications and events in this area of interest. Method. Information and detailed data were collected from different sources: direct reports, publications online resources. Illustrations (photos) are autotelic. This is a general description of events supported by commentary and analysis of content. Results. In addition to individual facts, concerning, for example, awards and promotions, a series of events are described and reviewed. This is followed by reviews of 28 books, and other major publications. Conclusions. Probably the most important event of the analysed period was the 3rd World Scientific Congress of Combat Sports and Martial Arts, and the 3rd IMACSSS International Conference in Rzeszów. As a result of these, institutional and qualitative developments in martial arts science can be seen.

Celem jest ukazanie faktografii, a więc zebranie materiału źródłowego do historii i instytucjonalizacji studiów kulturowych, sztuk walki i turystyki kulturowej. Jest to także recenzja publikacji i wydarzeń w interesującej nas dziedzinie. Metoda. Informacje i dane szczegółowe zebrano sięgając do różnych źródeł – relacji bezpośrednich, publikacji, treści internetowych. Ilustracja (zdjęcia) ma tu charakter autoteliczny. Jest to generalnie opis zdarzeń poparty komentarzem oraz analiza treści. Wyniki. Oprócz faktów indywidualnych, dotyczących na przykład nagród i awansów, opisano i zrecenzowano serię kilkunastu wydarzeń. Następnie przedstawiono noty recenzyjne o 28 książkach i innych ważnych publikacjach. Wnioski. Bodajże najważniejszym wydarzeniem analizowanego okresu był 3rd World Scientific Congress of Combat Sports and Martial Arts, i 3rd IMACSSS International Conference in Rzeszów. Można także stwierdzić, że następuje instytucjonalny i jakościowy rozwój nauki o sztukach walki.

The following work is a chronicle and review compiling the most important scientific events in the field of martial arts, which took place between December 2014 and December 2015. There are also analyses and reflections on the events, research and publications in the fields of cultural tourism, cultural dialogue and sport science. There are also notes describing a series of conferences, seminars and workshop including the 22nd General Assembly Commemoration Symposium in Rzeszow, the 1st Wroclaw Congress of Chinese Martial Arts and the 4th IMACSSS International Conference. The Chronicle also mentions those people who have contributed significantly to the study of martial arts and social studies: Werner Lind, Tadeusz Kochanowski, Barbara Krawczyk and Kazimierz Obodynski. The paper also includes a list of people promoted to higher ranks, honoured with awards or rewarded in other ways. New members of the IPA and new publications in the widely-understood area of martial arts science, social studies, anthropological studies, physical culture and tourism are listed.

Praca jest kroniką i recenzją wybranych ważniejszych wydarzeń naukowych i z zakresu studiów sztuk walki, które miały miejsce w okresie od grudnia 2014 do grudnia 2015. Analizy i refleksje dotyczą także wydarzeń, badań i publikacji z obszaru turystyki kulturowej, dialogów kulturowych i nauk o sporcie. Przedstawiono noty o serii konferencji, seminariów i warsztatów, jak np. 22nd General Assembly Commemoration Symposium in Rzeszów, I Wrocławski Kongres Chińskich Sztuk Walki, 4th IMACSSS International Conference. TThe following work is a chronicle (factual material plus assessment and comments) compiling the most important scientific events in the field of martial arts and cultural tourism research, which took place at the end of 2012 and throughout 2013. These include the 3rd International Symposium of Idokan Poland, organized in Rzeszów on the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of the IPA; the 46th Conference of the Japanese Academy of Budo connected with the International Conference of IMACSSS in Tsukuba, the 5th Conference of ISSSS (International Society of Social Science of Sport) in Porto, and the 9th International Conference “Sport and Quality of Life” in Brno. The Chronicle mentions the people who have contributed significantly to the study of martial arts in Poland and Germany such as Eryk Murlowski and Prof. Horst Tiwald. There is also a list of people promoted to higher ranks (scientific or in martial arts), honoured with awards or rewarded in other ways. The new members of IPA are listed. The last part of the journal contains a brief overview of new publications in the broadly understood area of martial arts and combat sports, as well as socio-cultural, humanistic, physical culture and tourism studies.

Problem. The cognitive aim of the study is a factual analysis of the fighting arts environment, especially the researchers of this area. The study concerns the city of Rzeszow, the seat of the IPA and IMACSSS, and wider international scale. Scientific and methodological events and latest literature on the subject are evaluated. The paper also describes changes in the type of substance presented and the development of our Journal. Method. The main qualitative method used here is the multiple case study research, both descriptive, interpretive and evaluative. Data was collected between November 2018 and November 2019. In many cases, the authors were direct observers of the events, whereas the publications were evaluated using the content analysis method. A comparison of the content of chronicles published in six consecutive volumes of this periodical was also carried out, with statistical compilation and highlighting the main trends. Results. A series of events was indicated and evaluated in short reviews of 27 publications, interesting from the point of view of the thematic profile of our Journal. The trend of constant increase in reviews of studies strictly on fighting arts was observed, and the assessment made by the Polish Ministry of Science was compared to the Fibonacci numerical sequence. Conclusions. The development of our periodical is taking place in the direction of thematic specialisation. The situation of fighting arts environment and researchers is being monitored on an ongoing basis, with photographic and descriptive documentation.

Problem. Celem poznawczym jest analiza faktograficzna dotycząca środowiska sztuk walki (szerzej rozumianych), a zwłaszcza badaczy tego obszaru. Rzecz dotyczy miasta Rzeszowa, siedziby SIP oraz IMACSSS, oraz skali szerszej, międzynarodowej. Ocenie podlegają imprezy naukowe i metodyczne oraz nowa literatura przedmiotu. Rzecz dotyczy także zmian w rodzaju prezentowanych treści i rozwoju naszego periodyku. Metoda. Główną metodą jakościową tutaj zastosowaną jest wielokrotne stadium przypadku, zarówno opisowe, interpretacyjne i oceniające. Dane zbierano w okresie listopad 2018 – listopad 2019. W wielu przypadkach autorzy byli bezpośrednimi obserwatorami wydarzeń. Z kolei publikacje zostały ocenione metodą analizy treści. Przeprowadzono też porównanie treści kronik opublikowanych w sześciu kolejnych tomach tego periodyku, z opracowaniem statystycznym i wyeksponowaniem głównej tendencji. Wyniki. Wskazano serię zdarzeń i oceniono w krótkich recenzjach 27 publikacji, interesujących dla profilu tematycznego naszego Journala. Stwierdzono tendencję stałego wzrostu recenzji prac z tematyki stricte sztuk walki, a oceny dokonane przez polskie Ministerstwo nauki porównano do ciągu liczbowego Fibonacci’ego. Wnioski. Rozwój naszego periodyku następuje w kierunku tematycznej specjalizacji. Na bieżąco monitorowana jest sytuacja środowiska sztuk walki i badaczy tychże, z dokumentacją fotograficzną i opisową.

Jacob is the son of Isaac and Rebekah. In his attitudes and acts he is not irreproachable, righteous and transparent, but all the same it is with him that God creates history! Already when he was being born he grasped his brother Esau by his heel. Using a trick he bought the birthright and his father’s blessing. So he has to escape. In Laban’s home he marries Leah and Rachel who give birth to his children. When he was returning home with his whole family he had an encounter with God, during which encounter God changed his name to Israel. This was also the moment of Jacob’s inner transformation, when a treacherous and dishonest man was changed into an indomitable, subject to God one. The article shows these stories in a certain very important key. The history of Jacob’s life and various events connected with it is the way the inspired author shows how God led his chosen one towards himself. This is important for us, who are chosen by God and called to be saint by the mandate of holy baptism, as also each of us has his own history of life, including good and edifying events, but also difficult and ambiguous ones. And if it is so, maybe God-like in Jacob’s life-also in our lives, through exactly such events leads us to himself!

Background. The activity of specialised associations and other institutions, and researchers, are co-creating the present fighting arts arena and the recent history of this phenomenon. It is therefore worth describing these events and new publications and also evaluating them. Problem. The cognitive aim of this research is to describe and analyse the area of martial arts and combat sports (people and scientific institutions) and activity in this field during the last year in the research centres in the small town of Strzyzow, Poland and in Central Europe, as well as on the wider international scale. Scientific and methodological events and new literature on the subject have been reviewed. Method. The main qualitative method used here is a survey of multiple case studies, which are descriptive, interpretive, and evaluative. Data were collected between October 2021 and October 2022. In many cases, the co-authors were participants / direct observers of the events. Publications and other materials were evaluated using a content analysis method and analysis of other sources (documents, films, electronic sources). Results and conclusions. Several events, as well as publications, which are interesting from the point of view of the thematic profile of our journal, have been indicated and evaluated in short reviews. The situation of the martial arts and combat sports community and its researchers is monitored on an ongoing basis using descriptive and/or photographic documentation. This is done by taking into account the cultural context and historical perspective.

Tło/perspektywa. Działalność wyspecjalizowanych stowarzyszeń i innych instytucji oraz badaczy współtworzą współczesny obszar sztuk walki i najnowszą historię tego zjawiska. Warto zatem opisywać te wydarzenia i nowe publikacje, a także je oceniać. Problem. Celem poznawczym niniejszych badań jest opisanie i analiza obszaru fighting arts - sztuk walki i sportów walki (ludzie i instytucje naukowe) oraz aktywności w tej dziedzinie w ciągu ostatniego roku. Badania skupiają się na małym mieście Strzyżów, Polsce i Europie Środkowej, a także dotyczą szerszej skali międzynarodowej. Dokonano przeglądu wydarzeń naukowych i metodologicznych oraz nowej literatury przedmiotu. Materiał i metoda. Główną zastosowaną tutaj metodą jakościową są studia wielokrotnego przypadku (multiple case studies), które mają charakter opisowy, interpretacyjny i oceniający. Dane zbierano między październikiem 2021 a październikiem 2022. W wielu przypadkach współautorami byli uczestnicy / bezpośredni obserwatorzy wydarzeń. Publikacje i inne materiały zostały ocenione metodą analizy treści oraz analizy innych źródeł (dokumenty, filmy, źródła elektroniczne). Wyniki i wnioski. Kilka wydarzeń, a także publikacji interesujących z punktu widzenia profilu tematycznego naszego czasopisma zostało wskazanych i ocenionych w krótkich recenzjach. Celem poznawczym badania jest tu opis i analiza środowiska sztuk walki i sportów walki ludzi i instytucji naukowych, którzy działają w tym obszarze. Badanie dotyczy miasta Rzeszowa, Polski i Europy Środkowej, oraz szerszej skali międzynarodowej. Dokonano przeglądu wydarzeń naukowych i metodyczno-szkoleniowych oraz nowej literatury przedmiotu. Metoda. Główną zastosowaną tutaj metodą jakościową jest badanie wielu studiów przypadku, zarówno opisowe, interpretacyjne, jak i oceniające. Dane gromadzono między październikiem 2020 r., a październikiem 2021. W wielu przypadkach współautorzy byli uczestnikami / bezpośrednimi obserwatorami wydarzeń. Publikacje i inne materiały były oceniane przy użyciu metody analizy treści. Wyniki i wnioski. W krótkich recenzjach wskazano i oceniono szereg wydarzeń, a także szereg publikacji, interesujących z punktu widzenia profilu tematycznego naszego czasopisma. Sytuacja środowiska sztuk walki i sportów walki, i badaczy tychże jest na bieżąco monitorowana za pomocą dokumentacji opisowej i/lub fotograficznej.

The history of Jesus of Nazareth makes always the very important subject of Theology and practice of the Church. Taking the criterion of events as the key of interpretation of Gospel according to Luke, the author proposes the analysis of work of Luke. Biblical exegesis doesn’t often lay an accentuation on the history which constitutes one of essential elements of Gospel – in this case the one according to St. Luke. A lot of events narrated there allow to follow the evangelical narration. The event which constitutes the historical top is the Pesah of Jesus Christ. The events searched and qualified help to elaborate some literal structure of the Gospel which is the matter. Entirety of evangelical work of Luke may be conceived better through an effort to give the new title to the Gospel. The following title: The historical narration of Jesus Christ the founder of the Church permits better apprehend the ecclesiastical aspect of the Gospel according to St. Luke.

The descriptions and assessments relate specifically to events between December 2016 and December 2017, and to the latest literature. The contents cover scientific advancements and promotions in martial arts; awards and decorations; the admission of new members to the Idokan Poland Association (IPA); recollections of important personalities in science and martial arts who have departed; conferences and other important events. Similarly to previous volumes, these are followed by information on new publications and brief reviews of them. This article contains not only factual material, but also evaluation resulting from the selection of events and literature, as well as assessments of substance. The method was content analysis and direct observation.

Opis i ocena dotyczą zwłaszcza wydarzeń z okresu od listopada 2017 do listopada 2018, oraz nowej literatury przedmiotu. Treść dotyczy kolejno - nagród i odznaczeń; awansów naukowych i awansów w sztukach walki; przyjęcia nowych członków Stowarzyszenia Idokan Polska (SIP); wspomnienia ważnych postaci nauki i sztuk walki, które odeszły; konferencji i innych ważnych wydarzeń. Przedstawione są noty o nowych publikacjach z ich krótką recenzją. Są to zarówno faktografia, jak i oceny merytoryczne publikacji i wydarzeń. Metodą była analiza treści i obserwacja bezpośrednia.

Problem. Science in the area of fighting arts is constantly being developed. How does this process work from the perspective of GTFA (General Theory of Fighting Arts) and institutions co-creating or cooperating in this area? The issue concerns the period from October 2022 to October 2023. Method. The analysis covers the historical and philosophical background, the activities of specialized scientific societies and universities, conferences, workshops, and other meetings, as well as new, more important scientific publications. It is a kind of review, factual and review study (opinions about events and publications). Various categories of sources were taken into account. Results. The activities of several scientific institutions (including IPA and IMACSSS) over the past year were discussed. A review of new publications in the interdisciplinary area of fighting arts was performed. Reference was also made to selected mass culture content (martial arts cinema) and some popularizing publications. Conclusions. The regularity of annual events, such as IPA meetings, seminars and summer camps, IMACSSS conferences, or other regular events, demonstrates an established institutional order. The traditions of given organizations are being built. In turn, new publications prove that the world of science is still interested in the area of fighting arts, as well as new ideas and scientific problems in this very interesting area that go beyond the scope of physical culture.

Problem. Nauka w obszarze fighting arts jest stale rozwijana. Jak ten proces przebiega z perspektywy GTFA (General Theory of Fighting Arts) i instytucji współkreujących lub współpracujących na tym obszarze? Praca dotyczy okresu od października 2022 do października 2023. Metoda. Analiza dotyczy tła historycznego i filozoficznego, działalności wyspecjalizowanych towarzystw naukowych i uczelni, odbytych konferencji, warsztatów i innych spotkań, a także nowych, ważniejszych publikacji naukowych. Jest to swego rodzaju opracowanie przeglądowe, faktograficzne i recenzyjne (opinie o wydarzeniach i publikacjach). Uwzględniono przy tym różne kategorie źródeł. Wyniki. Omówiono aktywność kilku instytucji naukowych (między innymi SIP i IMACSSS) w ciągu minionego roku. Wykonany został przegląd nowych publikacji w interdyscyplinarnym obszarze fighting arts. Odniesiono się także do wybranych treści kultury masowej (kino sztuk walki) i niektórych publikacji popularyzatorskich. Wnioski. Regularność odbywania się corocznych wydarzeń, jako zjazdy, seminaria i obozy letnie IPA, konferencje IMACSSS, lub inne cykliczne imprezy, świadczy o ustalonym porządku instytucjonalnym. Budowane są tradycje danych organizacji. Z kolei nowe publikacje świadczą o żywym wciąż zainteresowaniu świata nauki obszarem fighting arts, nowych pomysłach i problemach naukowych w tym jakże interesującym obszarze, który wykracza poza zakres kultury fizycznej.
