W artykule przedstawiono podstawowe założenia teoretyczne metody interpretacji dokumentarnej. Wykorzystując tę perspektywę poznawczą, badano problem relacji społecznych w osiedlach grodzonych w jednej z dzielnic Krakowa. Wywiady przeprowadzono z osobami dozorującymi. Uzyskane opinie dotyczą zarówno warunków życia mieszkańców osiedli grodzonych, charakteru relacji społecznych występujących w tych osiedlach, jak i warunków pracy badanych osób.

The article presents the main principles method of documentary interpretation. From this theoretical perspective the social relationships at gated communities in Cracow are analysed. Interviews were conducted with security personnel about the living conditions at gated communities, the relationships between inhabitants, and their own working conditions.
