Studium przypadku mężczyzny z otępieniem alzheimerowskim – diagnoza i terapia logopedyczna

Alzheimer's disease is one of the most serious neurological diseases of today’s ageing society. The number of people, particularly seniors, affected by this condition is increasing every year. Speech disorders are one of the earliest symptoms of this disease and reveal themselves early in its development. Despite the increasing interest of researchers in speech disorders associated with Alzheimer's dementia, there are still not enough empirical studies describing this issue. This article, based on a case study of a man, presents the characteristics of speech disorders in a person with Alzheimer's dementia, the course of speech therapy diagnosis with assessment of the level of individual language skills and the basic assumptions and directions for the planned speech therapy. The research shows that, depending on the individual characteristics of the patient in question, language disorders can take on a different character.

Choroba Alzheimera stanowi jedną z poważniejszych chorób neurologicznych współczesnego starzejącego się społeczeństwa. Każdego roku zwiększa się liczba osób, w szczególności seniorów, których dotyka to schorzenie. Zaburzenia mowy są jednym z pierwszych objawów tej choroby i ujawniają się już na samym początku jej rozwoju. Mimo coraz częstszego zainteresowania badaczy zaburzeniami mowy w przebiegu otępienia alzheimerowskiego w dalszym ciągu brak jest wystarczającej liczby badań empirycznych opisujących to zagadnienie. Niniejszy artykuł w oparciu o studium przypadku mężczyzny prezentuje charakterystykę zaburzeń mowy u osoby z otępieniem alzheimerowskim, przebieg diagnozy logopedycznej wraz z oceną poziomu poszczególnych sprawności językowych oraz podstawowe założenia i kierunki planowanej terapii logopedycznej. Badania pokazują, iż w zależności od indywidualnych cech danego pacjenta zaburzenia mowy mogą przyjmować odmienny charakter.
