Świat na początku XXI wieku ,"stanął” wobec wielu złożonych wyzwań cywilizacyjno-kulturowych, które generują różnorakie problemy społeczne, polityczne, gospodarcze, kulturalne, naukowe, oświatowe. Sytuacja ta domaga się koniecznych zmian we wszystkich sferach życia, również w edukacji. W artykule podjęto próbę analizy problematyki zadań nauczyciela/ wychowawcy w szkole XXI wieku w świetle wybranej literatury. Na początku zaprezentowano współczesne, główne czynniki przemian edukacyjnych. W dalszej kolejności analizie poddano priorytety oświatowe Unii Europejskiej, które wpływają na kształt nauczania i wychowania w szkole XXI wieku, oraz wyznaczają nowe zadania nauczycielom i wychowawcom. Na końcu zostały przedstawione wnioski i postulaty.

With the beginning of the 21st century the world encountered many complex civilizational and cultural problems, which have been generating varied social, political, economical, cultural, scientific and educational problems. The above described situation requires essential changes in all of the spheres of life, including education. And so, the article attempts to analyze the issues of teachers/educators’ tasks in the school within the 21st century in light of the available subject literature. At first, the modern main educational change factors have been presented. Subsequently, the next issue that is analyzed is the educational priorities of the European Union which have influence on the way of teaching and upbringing in schools in the 21st century and which determine new tasks for teachers and educators. The conclusions and postulates have been outlined at the end.

Niejednokrotnie słyszymy, jak ważna i doniosła jest rola nauczyciela oraz zadania, które wypełnia podczas procesu nauczania. Zawód nauczyciela jest bardzo ważny, ponieważ bierze on udział w przygotowaniu poszczególnych jednostek do życia w społeczeństwie. Zmiany we współczesnym szkolnictwie oraz ich tempo stawiają wiele wyzwań przed nauczycielem. Modyfikacji ulega postrzeganie roli i funkcji zawodowej nauczyciela biorącego udział w licznych przeobrażeniach. Jedną z rewolucji w obszarze oświaty było wprowadzenie z przyczyn pandemicznych nauczania zdalnego, które zmieniło oblicze oświaty. Jednakże nie należy zapominać o tym, że szkoła i nauczyciel to nadal dwa najważniejsze filary szeroko pojętej przestrzeni edukacyjnej. Dlatego też ciągłe wyzwania w zmieniającym się świecie przenoszą się na rolę i zadania nauczyciela, który ‒ jako niejedyny podmiot edukacyjny w rzeczywistości szkolnej ‒ musi je również podejmować. Od tego, jak będzie kreowała się funkcja i pozycja zawodowa nauczyciela, zależeć będzie przyszłość nowych pokoleń polskiej młodzieży.

We often hear how important the role of the teacher is, and so are the tasks they fulfill during the teaching process. It is associated with the fact that teacher’s profession is very important because it takes part in the preparation of an individual to life in the society. The changes in a modern education and its pace pose many challenges to the teacher. The perspective on the role and professional function of the teacher who participates in many transformations is modified. One of the revolutions in the field of education was an introduction of remote learning which, due to the pandemic reasons, has changed the face of the education. However, despite many difficulties, it should not be forgotten that both school and teacher are still the two most important foundations of the broadly understood educational space. Therefore, continuous challenges in the constantly changing world are transferred to the role and tasks of the teacher who, as not the only educational entity in a school reality, also has to take these challenges up. The future of the new generations of the Polish youth will depend on how the teacher’s function and professional position will be shaped.
