The aim of article is analysis of judges salary situation in Poland in 2002–2012 y. The basis on analysis is average salary in economy, in other professions and in other countries in EU. As a result of analysis is verification two hypothesis, based on judges opinion: salary of judges are too low and don’t adequate to status of judges office, and that judges in Poland belong to worst paying judges in EU. As a result of changes in salary rules in 2008 y. judges salary increase above 20%. As a result this changes, cur­rently judges salary is higher than salary in other professions from higher education. Judges salary in Poland with relation to average salary in economy is similar to relation in other countries in EU. Analysis don’t confirm pessimistic judges opinion about too low salary.

Celem artykułu jest analiza sytuacji pła­owej sędziów w Polsce w latach 2002–2012. Podstawą analizy jest płaca przeciętna w gospodarce, płaca innych zawodów oraz płaca sędziów w innych krajach UE. W wyniku analizy dokonano weryfikacji dwóch hipotez opartych na opinii sędz­iów: że wynagrodzenia sędziów są zbyt niskie i nie odpowiednie do godności urzędu oraz że sędziowie w Polsce należą do najgorzej wynagradzanych w krajach UE. W wyniku zmiany zasad wynagradzania sędziów w 2008 r. ich wynagrodzenia wzrosły o ponad 20%. Dzięki tym zmianom obecnie wynagrodzenia sędziów są wyższe od pozostałych zawodów wymagających wykształcenia wyższego. Relacje wynagrodzeń sędziów w Polsce do przeciętnego wynagrodzenia w gospodarce są zbliżone do relacji w innych krajach UE. Analiza nie potwierdziła więc pesymistycznych opinii sędziów o zbyt niskich płacach.
