Background. In recent years the breakthrough in the video game market has occurred due to the new motion-sensing devices, which require a wide range of limb movements or even the whole body movement. Because of these technical solutions the video games have become a peculiar form of physical activity. Material and methods. The aim of this work was to compare the results of a standard computer test which measures reaction time and a physical test which measures the ability of grasping the Dietrich’s baton with the results obtained in “Super goalkeeper” – the motion-controlled video game for Xbox 360 Kinect. Thirty children attending Primary and Kindergarten schools No. 1 in Piekary Śląskie, Poland, aged 11–13 (the 5th and the 6th grade) took part in the experiment. Results and conclusions. In each trial, boys got higher results than girls. The results obtained in the motion-controlled video game “Super goalkeeper” correlated more strongly with the results of Dietrich’s test than the results of the standard reaction time computer test. The study showed also that the motion-controlled game may be an alternative to the existing tests which measure reaction time.

Problematyka równowagi ciała ćwiczących sztuki i sporty walki stanowi ważny aspekt badań [Cesari i Bertucco 2008; Juras i in. 2013; Pion i in. 2014; Witkowski i in. 2014; Gierczuk i Sadowski, 2015; Mala i in. 2016; Milosavljevic i in. 2016). Utrzymanie stabilnej postawy w walce wpływa bowiem na skuteczność wszystkich podejmowanych działań [Błach i in. 2005; Kalina i in. 2007; Sterkowicz i in. 2012; Truszczyńska i in. 2015). Dokonano przeglądu literatury w bazie danych EBSCOhost za pomocą następujących słów kluczowych: „zdolności koordynacyjne”, „równowaga statystyczna”, „równowaga dynamiczna”. Empirycznie udowodniono korzystny wpływ treningu sztuk i sportów walki na kształtowanie kontroli postawy ciała ćwiczących [Falk i Mor, 1996; Perrot i in. 1998; Paillard i in. 2002; Cesari i Bertucco, 2008; Pons i in. 2012; Sterkowicz i in. 2012; Juras i in. 2013; Witkowski i in. 2014). Pomiarów dokonywano przy pomocy różnych technik instrumentalnych oraz testów równowagi. Metoda dekompozycji sygnału środka nacisku na podłoże (Zatsiorskiego i Duarte, 1999, 2000), procedura rambling-trembling oraz test maksymalnego wychylenia funkcjonalnego (Juras i in. 2013) są najodpowiedniejszymi narzędziami pomiarowymi. Podkreśla się konieczność kontynuowania badań (Błach i in. 2005). Zasadne jest określenie zależności między czynnikami psychicznymi a równowagą ciała, wypracowanie standardów oraz modeli treningowych w tym zakresie (Błach i in. 2005).

The issue of body balance of persons practicing martial arts is an important aspect of researches (Cesari and Bertucco, 2008; Juras et al. 2013; Pion et al. 2014; Witkowski et al. 2014; Gierczuk and Sadowski, 2015; Mala et al. 2016; Milosavljevic et al. 2016). Maintaining a stable posture in fight affects the effectiveness of all taken actions (Błach et al. 2005; Kalina et al. 2007; Sterkowicz et al. 2012; Truszczyńska et al. 2015). This paper made a literature review in the EBSCOhost database using the following keywords: "coordination skills", "static balance", "dynamic balance", "body sway", "postural control" and "martial arts", "combat sports”. Beneficial effects of training martial arts on the development of postural control of the exercisers body has been empirically proven (Falk and Mor, 1996; Perrot et al. 1998; Paillard et al. 2002; Cesari and Bertucco, 2008; Pons et al. 2013; Sterkowicz et al. 2012; Juras et al. 2013; Witkowski et al. 2014). Measurements were performed using a variety of instrumental techniques and balance tests. The method of signal decomposition of pressure center on the ground (Zatsiorsky and Duarte, 1999, 2000), rambling-trembling procedure and test of maximum functional deflection (Juras et al. 2013) are the most appropriate measurement tools. The need to continue research is clearly emphasized (Błach et al. 2005). It is reasonable to define the relationship between psychological factors and body balance to develop standards and training models in this field (Błach et al. 2005).
