Ocena stabilności ekspresywnej leksemu trawelebryta

An appraisal of the expressive stability of the word „trawelebryta” The aim of this paper is to define the meanings as well as to establish the contexts in which one can find the relatively new lexeme trawelebryta ‘travelebrity’ in the Polish language. Its novelty manifests itself in the lack of the spelling unification, which additionally implies that the word is not well-ingrained in the language yet. On the other hand, the lexeme serves as a word-formation base for other lexemes, which in turn indicates that the word is already a part of the mental lexicon of native speakers of Polish. Although it was determined that the lexeme is relatively stable, we found five distinctive meanings, which are still undergoing certain semantic and formal modifications. The evolution of its meaning shows a tendency to shift towards negative connotations, from neutral to colloquial, and, in extreme cases, even to the offensive ones. It was evidenced by sets of synonyms and contexts to which the lexeme was assigned. The paper ultimately shows that the adaptation process of the lexeme in the Polish language is not over yet.

Przedmiotem analizy są użycia leksemów kartofel i ziemniak, a także ich derywatów, występujące w języku współczesnych polskich muzyków. Analiza ma na celu opis tych użyć z punktu widzenia semantyki encyklopedycznej postulowanej w ramach gramatyki kognitywnej. Ujmując zmiany znaczenia w terminach rozszerzenia semantycznego oraz skupiając uwagę na pojęciu wiedzy encyklopedycznej użytkowników języka, artykuł jest próbą precyzyjnego określenia, na czym polega osadzenie rozszerzenia w tego typu wiedzy. Dokonane obserwacje pozwalają na wskazanie kluczowej roli, jaką odgrywa wiedza w procesie kategoryzacji stanowiącym podstawę zmiany semantycznej, w procesie utrwalania się złożonej struktury semantycznej stanowiącej nowe znaczenie oraz w dalszych twórczych procesach wykorzystania tej struktury.

The object of analysis is the uses of lexemes kartofel i ziemniak and their derivations found in the language of contemporary Polish musicians. The analysis aims to describe these uses from the point of view of encyclopaedic semantics postulated by Cognitive Grammar. Describing the change of sense in terms of semantic extension and focusing on encyclopaedic knowledge, the paper attempts to specify what embedding extension in such knowledge is about. The analysis indicates the key role that this knowledge plays in the process of categorisation, the basis of semantic extension, in the process of entrenchment of the complex structure constituting the extended sense, and in further creative processes exploiting this structure.

Artykuł w sposób przeglądowy porusza temat zależności pomiędzy człowiekiem a przestrzenią w kontekście wprowadzonej w ubiegłym roku przymusowej izolacji. Odwołuje się do sposobów odczuwania przestrzeni scharakteryzowanych przez E.T. Halla oraz do rodzajów dystansu opisanych przez proksemikę. Opowiada o zaobserwowanych reakcjach ludzi na wymuszone zachowanie dystansu społecznego i próby wprowadzania zmian w sposobie użytkowania miejsc wspólnych. Zwraca uwagę na całkowitą zmianę funkcji przestrzeni, jaką było łączenie ludzi, na funkcję dzielącą współużytkowników. Co pewien czas nastaje dzień, kiedy pielęgnowana przez nas pewność stałości istniejącego świata okazuje się całkowitą ułudą. W jednej chwili musimy zmienić sposób funkcjonowania i wszystkie nasze przyzwyczajenia, dostosowując się do nowej, niechcianej rzeczywistości. Za każdym razem zdziwieni niepomyślnym obrotem spraw wierzymy, że „następnym razem” będziemy mądrzejsi dzięki przetrwaniu kolejnej porażki. „Na świecie było tyle dżum co wojen. Mimo to dżumy i wojny zastają ludzi zawsze tak samo zaskoczonych”.
