Onomastyka jest dziedziną interdyscyplinarną, głównie o nachyleniu językoznawczym. Analiza onomastyczna podpiera się wieloma metodologiami właściwymi dla innych gałęzi językoznawstwa, nauk humanistycznych, stąd takie jej ujęcia przedmiotowe jak socjoonomastyka, psychoonomastyka, onomastyka kulturowa, onomastyka literacka i in. Artykuł jest poświęcony zagadnieniu związków pomiędzy onomastyką a socjologią.

Onomastics is an interdisciplinary field, with a primarary leaning towards linguistics. An analysis of onomastics applies many methodologies appropriate to other branches of linguistics and humanities, hence such concepts as socioonomastics, psychonomastics, cultural onomastics, literary onomastics etc. This paper is devoted to the issue of the relationship between onomastics and sociology. Socioonomastisc is a subfield of onomastics, studying the names from the sociolinguistic and sociological standpoint.
