Sierpień 1828 roku osiemnastoletni Fryderyk Chopin spędził w Sannikach, u swego szkolnego przyjaciela Konstantego Pruszaka. Informacja ta budzi szereg pytań i wątpliwości: gdzie mieszkał? Jak wyglądała wówczas letnia siedziba Pruszaków? Czy był to pałac, który choć w części przypomina współczesny? W styczniu 2011 roku rozpoczęły się w zabytkowym zespole pałacowym w Sannikach prace rewaloryzacyjne i adaptacyjne na Europejskie Centrum Artystyczne im. Fryderyka Chopina. Pracom, już od etapu projektowania, towarzyszą badania konserwatorskie, które dają nadzieję uzyskania precyzyjnych odpowiedzi na postawione powyżej pytania. Nowe ustalenia naukowe kompletnie zmieniły stan wiedzy znany z literatury. Poznaliśmy prawdziwą historię dóbr sannickich i pałacu – różne etapy jego przekształceń, wygląd w poszczególnych etapach, dekoracje architektoniczne i malarskie. Artykuł niniejszy stanowi krótki raport na temat tych ustaleń.

Eighteen-years-old Fryderyk Chopin spent August 1828 at Sanniki, being guest of his school-mate Konstanty Pruszak. This information raises several questions and concerns: where he had lived? How had the summer residence of the Pruszak family looked like? Was it a palace, which at least in part resembled the building which is now standing at Sanniki? In January 2011, in historical palace at Sanniki the renovation and adaptive work has been initiated to convert the building into the Fryderyk Chopin European Art Centre. The works, already from the design stage, has been accompanied by conservation research that give hope to obtain precise answers to the above questions. New scientific findings have completely changed the state of the knowledge based on previous publications. We got to know the real story of the palace and of the whole property of Sanniki - subsequent stages of its transformation, its design and look at the various stages, architectural and artistic decorations. This article provides a brief report on these findings.
