This text is an attempt at a synthetic analysis of the relationship between the embodied subject and the environment, taking into account the first‑person perspective in the philosophy of Shaun Gallagher and Dan Zahavi. In their work titled The Phenomenological Mind, the researchers reject the traditional mind‑body dualism and present the body as a key element of consciousness and individual experience. Rather than treating the body merely as a physical object, they emphasize its role in cognitive processes and interactions with the environment. The authors demonstrate that consciousness is shaped by embodiment, which stands in opposition to reductionist neuroscientific theories that seek to explain consciousness through the analysis of brain structures.

Niniejszy artykuł jest krótkim przeglądem fenomenologicznych koncepcji ciała i świadomości Shauna Gallaghera oraz Dana Zahaviego, zawartych w ich pracy Fenomenologiczny umysł. W swojej rozprawie badacze odrzucają tradycyjny dualizm umysł–ciało i przedstawiają ciało jako kluczowy element świadomości i doświadczenia jednostki. Zamiast traktować ciało jedynie jako obiekt fizyczny, uczeni podkreślają jego rolę w procesach poznawczych i interakcji z otoczeniem. Autorzy pracy ukazują, że świadomość jest kształtowana przez cielesność, co stoi w opozycji do redukcjonistycznych teorii neuronaukowych, które skupiają się na wyjaśnieniu świadomości poprzez analizę struktur mózgu.
