The article analyzes letters in which girls’ magazines readers ask for solutions to some specific problems accompanying the course of their adolescence. It describes how Czech adolescent girls communicate about gender differences in culture and social stereotypes. They use two categories – girl (an adolescent female person) and boy (an adolescent male person) and add specific properties (predicates) to them.
This contribution deals with the role of stereotypes in interaction with older adults. It concentrates on the patronizing speech and its reflection in the structure of conversation. This speech is identified by the presence of clarification and simplification strategies.
