The aim of this comparative article is to present the similarity of the poetic concepts of Antonio Colinas and Zbigniew Herbert. The poets did not know each other, there are no traces of mutual influences to be found in their poetic output either, however, they both seemed to be equally connected with the Mediterranean culture. This article concentrates on the meaning of silence in their poetry seen as a necessary supplement to the art of words, hope for saving the sense from ambiguity and hubbub of words. The insufficiency of both the accessible language and silence inspired the poets to seek a form of expression that could satisfy human needs, “the unattainable language.” The search, between the word and silence, is manifested in the poetic works of Colinas and Herbert.

On a analisé trois traductions des poémes choisis de Baudelaire du point de vue de la théorie de la traduction contemporaine. On a montré comment les traducteurs comprennent ľinterprétation, la creation, la fidélité et les associations, surtout au niveau culturel, dans la traduction littćraire.

L’article contient une analyse des deux traductions polonaises du poéme de Paul Valéry Cimetiere marin. Le traducteur, Roman Kołoniecki, a publié une d ’elles en 1936 et l’autre en 1975. II en résulte que la premiére traduction est plus proche de l’oeuvre francaise, pendant que la deuxiéme introduit plusieurs elements nouveaux, tels que, par exemple, les mots appartenant aux champs lexicaux qui n ’apparaissent pas dans l’original et qui servent á développer des images par amplification ou le remplacement des sens concrete par d ’autres qui sont plus métaphoriques. Comme toute traduction constitue une interpretation, on arrive á la conclusion que la premiere traduction est une interpretation plus exacte que celle faite plusieurs années aprés.
