In this paper, we combine, in an interdisciplinary way, critical discourse analysis and psycho-pedagogical studies of socio-constructivism, to analyse the key texts of the educational reform, initiated in Catalonia in 2016, called Escola Nova 21. The analysis of discursive absences in a specific socio-political context, the lexical selection and the role attributed to the two main educational agents, teachers and students, as well as to educative institutions show that the reform has been promoted from outside the educational system, without the teachers’ active participation. The interpretation of the results of the discursive analysis from the theoretical perspective of the main theoreticians of education, Piaget, Vygotsky and Bruner, also shows that Escola Nova 21 is very far from the socio-constructivist assumptions defended by these established authors. The conclusion after the discursive and ideological analysis points out that it is a reform more aligned with the international approaches of neoliberal education.
