On admission the article presents a notion ofrevitalisation and reasons of conducting ofthis process in Poland. In next part has been presented polish experiences from years 2004-2006. After this has been discuss a relationships between revitalisation an sustainable development of cities. In next part the article presents role ofrevitalisation in the Regional Operational Programme ofthe Opolskie Voivodeship for 2007-2013. It presents practical realisation of plans of revitalisation for Niemodlin and Nysa in last part.

We wstępnej części artykułu prezentowanejest pojęcie „rewitalizacja” i objaśniane są przyczyny przeprowadzenia tego procesu w Polsce. W następnej części omawiane są doświadczenia w realizacji tego  procesu w Polsce od lat 2004-2006. Dyskutowane są także związki między rewitalizacją a stałym rozwojem miast. W kolejnej części artykułu prezentowana jest rola rewitalizacji w Regionalnym Programie Operacyjnym województwa opolskiego na lata 2007-2013. W zakończeniu wskazano na praktyczną realizację planów rewitalizacji w Niemodlinie i Nysie.
