This article is dedicated to a primary education teacher. It presents their role and personality from a theoretical standpoint. The article focuses on the essence of teaching, as well as a teacher in the light of various pedagogical concepts, such as behaviourism, humanistic concept and constructivism. Finally, it outlines functions, scope and working styles of a primary education teacher.

Artykuł poświęcony jest nauczycielowi wychowawcy klas młodszych. Treści przedstawiają osobowość i rolę nauczyciela w ujęciu teoretycznym. Rozważania dotyczą także istoty nauczania i osoby nauczyciela w świetle różnych koncepcji pedagogicznych, tj. behawioryzmu, koncepcji humanistycznej i konstruktywizmu. Ponadto przedstawiono funkcje, wymiary i style pracy pedagogicznej wychowawcy nauczania początkowego.
