„Masakra" — wyraz modny współczesnej polszczyzny

Artykuł przedstawia znaczenie i pragmatyczne funkcje słowa masakra, które we współczesnej polszczynie stopniowo traci swoje negatywne konotacje semantyczne związane z okrutnym zabijaniem, rzezią i staje się uniwersalnym wyrazem służącym wyrażaniu emocji, oceny (zarówno negatywnej, jak i pozytywnej), dużego natężenia jakiejś cechy albo zjawiska. W pracy zaprezentowano funkcjonowanie tego wyrazu w tekstach mówionych i pisanych, m.in. w wypowiedziach charakterystycznych dla codziennej komunikacji nieoficjalnej, w artykułach, komentarzach i reklamach zamieszczonych na różnych stronach internetowych.

The article presents the meaning and pragmatic functions of the word masakra (massacre). In contemporary Polish the word is gradually losing negative semantic connotations related to savage killing, slaughter and is becoming a universal form serving to express emotions, opinions (both negative and positive), high intensity of a feature or a phenomenon. In the paper, the author shows functioning of the fashionable word in spoken and written texts, inter alia, in statements typical of everyday informal communication, in articles, comments and advertising placed on different websites.
