The article analyzes the situation of violence in the family and its impact on dysfunctional roles of its members. The problem is viewed in the context of sociological data and selected aspects of assistance to the family, such as crisis intervention care. Besides intervention actions, the article discusses recommendations pertaining to basic requirements of effective help in a situation of family dysfunction. The focus of the analysis is on the role of the child in a family experiencing direct and indirect violence, where it plays the role of an observer of the suffering of its close ones. An important issue considered here is that of developmental disorders in a child with experience of trauma and its consequences. Traumatic experiences often go hand in hand with the problems of a child in the role of a witness reporting the situation in the family in order to trigger profession assistance. In connection with this the article also discusses the requirement of conducting professional interviews to investigate the situation in the family, and the necessity of therapeutic interaction with children who are victims of family violence.

Artykuł analizuje sytuację przemocy w rodzinie i jej wpływ na dysfunkcjonalne role jej członków. Problem osadzony jest w kontekście danych socjologicznych, a także w wybranych aspektach pomocy rodzinie, jakimi są na przykład działania dotyczące interwencji kryzysowej. Obok nich w artykule wymienione są wskazania dotyczące podstawowych wymogów skutecznej pomocy w sytuacji dysfunkcji rodziny. Analiza skupiona jest również na roli dziecka w rodzinie doświadczającego przemocy bezpośredniej i pośredniej, odgrywającego rolę obserwatora cierpień bliskich. Ważnym wątkiem rozważań jest także wskazanie na zaburzenie rozwoju dziecka doświadczającego traumatycznych przeżyć i konsekwencji z tym związanych. Obok traumatycznych przeżyć lokowane są także problemy dziecka w roli świadka relacjonującego o sytuacji w rodzinie w celu uruchomienia profesjonalnej pomocy. W związku z tym treść artykułu odnosi się także do wymogów profesjonalnego prowadzenia wywiadów mających służyć badaniu sytuacji w rodzinie, a także do konieczności oddziaływania terapeutycznego na dzieci będące ofiarami przemocy.

This article takes up the issues of migration and refugeeism, which figure prominently in Pope Francis’ 2014–2023 Messages. It is a topic in its own right, but in fact part of the narrative of poverty, injustice and suffering – aspects of the Pope’s particular concern. In the analyses of the problem, the macro-structural background of the phenomenon is shown, reference is made to current data, but also an indication of the percentage of population flow approved from the point of view of migration movements. In the context of the analysed Messages of Pope Francis, the article addresses the problem of the Pope’s pedagogical stance, which in the texts includes clear indications addressed to the international community on the vision of freedom of movement, the necessity to welcome and unconditionally safeguard the rights and interests of migrants. The principle of inclusivity in the reception of refugees required of states is extended by the Pope to religious inclusivity, and its requirements contain some contradictions, such as preserving separateness while promoting unity.

The reflection on the academic status of social work presented in the article is the result of a discussion during a scientific seminar organized on the initiative of the Board of the Social Work Section of the Polish Sociological Association. In June 2022, in the Gułtów Palace and Park Complex, property of the Adama Mickiewicz University in Poznań, during a two-day meeting, academics and experts from all over Poland discussed the current status and challenges that are important for social work in the context of its professionalization and academic potential. As part of the seminar, five debates were held, each consisting of a substantive introduction and discussion. The authors of this report presented their opinions, conclusions, and recommendations. The participants agreed that such discussions should be a cyclical event because they integrate around important issues having consequences not only for the development of social work but also for effectively dealing with critical social problems.

Podjęta w artykule refleksja nad akademickim statusem pracy socjalnej jest pokłosiem dyskusji w ramach seminarium naukowego zorganizowanego z inicjatywy Zarządu Sekcji Pracy Socjalnej Polskiego Towarzystwa Socjologicznego. W czerwcu 2022 r. w Zespole Pałacowo-Parkowym w Gułtowach, należącym do Uniwersytetu im. Adama Mickiewicza w Poznaniu, podczas dwudniowego spotkania akademicy i eksperci z całej Polski dyskutowali nad obecnym stanem i wyzwaniami, jakie są istotne dla pracy socjalnej w kontekście jej profesjonalizacji i akademickiego potencjału. W ramach seminarium przeprowadzono pięć debat, każda z nich składała się merytorycznego wstępu oraz dyskusji. Autorzy niniejszego sprawozdania przedstawili wyrażane w ich trakcie opinie, wnioski i rekomendacje. Uczestnicy spotkania byli zgodni, że tego typu dyskusje powinny być cyklicznym wydarzeniem, ponieważ integrują wokół ważnych kwestii mających konsekwencję nie tylko dla rozwoju pracy socjalnej, lecz także dla efektywnego rozwiązywania ważnych problemów społecznych.
