The main purpose of this paper is to present the Russian legislation in terms of its relations to homosex­uals in the last twenty years. The great emphasis was placed on the last eight years, when in eleven political units of Russian Fed­eration the promotion of homosexuality to minors was banned. The author endeavours to understand how homophobic regulations influenced, reported in recent years, decrease in acceptance of sexual min­orities. The next essential part of this article is discussion on consequences of an act passed in June 2013 about protection of minors against propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations, increase of violence against homosexuals, discrimination of teachers, putting back on the agenda rights of Russian LGBT community and accusations against sexual minorities of detriment to the image of Russia.

Drawing on an analysis of the contents of an NTV programme, the author of the article examines the methods of linguistic and non-verbal manipulation employed by the Russian media with regards to the events that began in November 2013 with the protests on the Kiev Maidan. The information presented in the programme in question is extremely unilateral. The protesters are denied their right to express their views and are presented only as a dehumanised crowd seen through its brutal behaviour. At the same time there is no mention of the brutality of the law enforcement agencies that was one of the main threads in the Western media narratives. Opposition activists are portrayed as followers of orders issued by their Western patrons and as people who use politics to escape from their responsibility for their criminal and unethical activities. In addition, the simplification of axiology and identifi cation of the protesters with a compromised ideology make the presented version of events a version without an alternative. The author notes that despite the apparent variety of broadcasters, we are, in fact, dealing with a limited pluralism in Russia, a situation that facilitates the use of propaganda mechanisms described with reference to the media in undemocratic countries.

The article explores sexual and gender discourses that circulate in the Russian media and their relationship to the sexual politics of the country. It explores what sexual deviation means, what sexual politics are and why the idea of moral panic provides a critical analytical tool for looking at the current Russian debates around normality, nation, gender and sexuality. English translation: Anna Moroz-Darska Modernisation of the journal's operations and translation into the English language of articles published in Ars Educandi in 2012-2017 were financed with funds from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education as a part of the task Science Promotion Activity (pl. DUN). The task ‘The implementation of the editorial module on the platform of Uniwersyteckie Czasopisma Naukowe – a system facilitating the editing and management of the academic journal Ars Educandi‘ was financed as a part of contract 661/P-DUN/2018 of 12.06.2018 from funds of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education designated for the promotion of science. The task ‘The creation of a modern online version of the academic journal Ars Educandi through the implementation of the publication module on the platform of Uniwersyteckie Czasopisma Naukowe and the handling of international indexing databases’ was financed as a part of contract 661/P-DUN/2018 of 12.06.2018 from funds of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education designated for the promotion of science. The task ‘Preparation of the English language version of the last 6 annual issues (2012-2017) of the academic journal Ars Educandi and their publication online’ was financed as a part of contract 661/P-DUN/2018 of 12.06.2018 from funds of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education designated for the promotion of science.

Artykuł analizuje dyskursy seksualne i genderowe, które krążą w rosyjskich mediach oraz ich związek z polityką seksualną w tym kraju. Odkrywa, co oznacza odchylenie seksualne, jaka jest polityka seksualna i dlaczego idea paniki moralnej dostarcza krytycznego narzędzia analitycznego do analizy obecnych rosyjskich debat na temat normalności, narodu, płci i seksualności.
