Темой статьи является проникновение этики в политическую сферу общества и индивидуума как актуальнейшего вопроса современности. Главной темой публичной этики стали права человека в реальных условиях глобализма, которые преобразовались в этические ценности, и которые придали справедливости, свободе и процветанию глубокий смысл. Таким образом в публичном дискурсе присутствует моральный аспект социального преобразования вместо политического, и одновременно дискурс становится критерием политической легитимности.

The main subject of the paper is the issue of ethics accession to the political sphere of society and the individual as one of the most current issues of present time. The key question of public ethics has become the matter of universal human rights in the real conditions of globalism, which are transformed to the ethical values and given the inner dimension of justice, freedom and prosperity. Thus, in the public discourse there is a moral aspect of the society transformation rather than the political one and, at the same time, the discourse becomes the criterion of policy legitimacy.

The paper focuses on searching for relationships and conditions of the seniors’ status in Slovakia in the context of transformation processes that had significantly weakened their social securities, their meaning of the life and had them shifted into “surviving“. The solution seems to be intergenerational solidarity, using their social capital as a part of own life experiences’ capitalisation process. The standard of living in the EU, achieved health and social standards including the rights to a dignified and full-fledged seniors’ life, are one of basic human rights and its observance should be a legal and moral duty of every democratic country. The authors offer the results of empirical research on the quality of seniors’ life in conditions of Slovak conditions in comparison with the Pan-European area.
