In the paper history of development of the Polish research on neuro- muscular diseases in the period of the the Polish People’s Republic was presented. They were carried out mainly in the Department of Neurology at Warsaw Medical University headed by prof. Irena Hausmanowa- Petrusewicz and led to establishment of neuromiology as an independent subspecialty within the frames of clinical neurology, not only in Poland, but at international level as well. In Poland electromyography and histopathological examinations of sceletal muscles have been introduced to clinical practice throughout the country. Very valuable achievements were obtained in studies on muscular dystrophies, myotonia and muscular channelopathies in particular. The Department of Neurology delt also with various aspects of physiological ontogenetic development of muscular system. It was possible to reach to such significant results due to quite intensive international cooperation even despite very unfavourable political circumstances. Polish school of research on neuro-muscular diseases constitutes a striking example of “success despite all’’.
The paper deals with Arabic and Persian loanwords in Daghestanian languages. Adaptive phonetic changes and possible semantic deviations are investigated.
