Population aging has become a contemporary social problem not only locally but also globally. The increasing number of elderly people poses a challenge to state policy. There is a change in the hierarchy of the needs of the elderly, new obstacles arise not only for seniors but also for families that have to find their way in the new situation. The family is an inseparable element of society for which the state bears responsibility.

Starzenie się społeczeństwa jest współczesnym problemem społecznym zarówno w wymiarze lokalnym, jak globalnym. Zwiększająca się liczba osób starszych stanowi wyzwanie dla polityki państwa. Następują zmiany w hierarchii potrzeb tej grupy wiekowej, pojawiają się nowe wyzwania nie tylko dla seniorów, ale również dla ich rodzin, gdyż wszyscy muszą odnaleźć się w nowej sytuacji. Rodzina stanowi nierozłączny element społeczeństwa, za który państwo ponosi odpowiedzialność.
