The article focuses on the designations of the Orthodox clergymen (clergy, monks and laicpersons with lowest level of consecration), which are present in a modern Polish language. Majorityof them are the Old-Church-Slavonic borrowings as: archijerej / archirej, igumen, schimnik orthe Greek borrowings as: riasoforos, hierodiakon, metropolita. Interesting is the fact of adaptationin the Polish Orthodox terminology the borrowings from the Roman catholic terminology of Latinprovenience, for example wikariusz, ordynariusz, kapelan, ect. In a parallel use we can met veryoften names from this three sources as: ipodiakon (slav.) - hypodiakon (gr.) - subdiakon (lat.),paramonarz (gr.) - ponomar (slav.), cztiec (slav.) - lektor (lat.), ect.

This article focuses on Orthodox terminology found in modern Russian-Polish general dictionaries: Wielki słownik rosyjsko-polski by A. Mirowicz, I. Dulewiczowa, I. Grek-Pabisowa, I. Martyniakowa and Wielki słownik rosyjsko-polski z kluczem polsko-rosyjskim edited by J. Wawrzyńczyk. The author shows the extent given lexicon is reflected in dictionaries, explores the ways of its translation and presents strengths and weaknesses of elaboration of entry articles. The analysis of translated equivalents also permits the identification of the main tendencies in Orthodox termino- logy in the Polish language.

This article focuses on the beginnings, history and contemporary function of names for the Feast of the Resurrection of Christ in Slavic languages. Particular attention is given to the Russian name Великдень and the Polish name Wielkanoc. The author conducts an in-depth comparison of both names in their linguistic and cultural aspects and attempts to find reasons for the difference in terminology.
