The Alexander Nevsky orthodox cathedral in Warsaw was built in 1912 and demolished for political reasons in 1923. Its interior was filled with mosaics and frescoes by the most eminent Petersburg artists, including Viktor Vasnetsov. On the basis of archival photographs, it was possible to read the painting program of this church and find iconographic and stylistic analogies in orthodox church of the Resurrection of the Lord in the St. Petersburg.

Sobór Aleksandra Newskiego w Warszawie wzniesiono w 1912 r., a zburzono z powodów politycznych w 1923 r. Jego wnętrze wypełniały mozaiki i freski wykonane przez najlepszych petersburskich artystów, w tym Wiktora Wasniecowa. Na podstawie archiwalnych zdjęć udało się odczytać program malarski świątyni oraz odnaleźć ikonograficzne i stylistyczne analogie w petersburskiej cerkwi Zmartwychwstania Pańskiego.
