The paper constitutes an attempt to delineate the main assumptions, aims and research subject of applied linguo-cultural studies. This discipline works on the border of theoretical linguocultural studies and methodology of teaching a foreign language. The paper presents Multimedia Linguo-cultural Dictionary available on the webpage of Pushkin State Russian Language Institute. The author analyses the macro- and microstructure of the dictionary, focusing on its innovativeness. Entries in the dictionary are described in their entirety, considering references to the real world, which are essential in the socio-cultural functioning of every language, its description and teaching. This helps realise the main assumptions and aims of applied linguo-cultural studies.

In this article the author draws attention to how phraseological competence affects the deve- lopment of intercultural competence. The study and description of fixed word combinations is quite long and has rich history. However, more recently, in grounds of phraseological studies, a concept of didactics of phraseolo- gy appeared. Collocations refer to culture ancient and modern customs, they derive from literature and religion, they also carry the information about the country and its communities, which makes them an ideal material for use in the development of intercultural competence in students of philology. Generally speaking, interculturalism is the understanding and tolerance of a foreign culture and a cross-cultural exchange. Contact with other languages and cultures enables the development of intercultural communi- cative competences.

In the below article the whole attention was directed on an image of the woman coded in Russian language, precisely in proverbs. As a basis material of the article were chosen mainly the proverbs due to their repeatability, stereotype which is strengthened in the language. The subject of the article’s analysis is the linguistic image of woman in the Russian proverbs, which is composed of the two stereotypes: negative and positive. In the article the attention was paid to the synonyms of the word „woman”, which appear in the proverbs and have different emotional tinge and valuate world of women.
