The following article is concerned with initiation of Polish pupil into the world of literary culture. The analysis of the problem is based on observation and conclusions of researchers, methodology’s teachers and educators, relate to reading among the Polish youth. The most important points are: the designation of stages of human growing into the literary culture, the establishment of condition young people’s literary culture in comparison to the general standard of literary culture in Poland. Apart from that, this article contains the issues of specification of pupils reading’s determinants and also the set up, what role has school in the process of publicizing writing word. The crown of this article is the emphasis, that didactic institutions perform superior role in the process of promotion of literary culture among the Polish pupils.

The following article is concerned with the presence of Juliusz Słowacki’s literature in High School at the threshold of the third millennium. The analysis of the problem is based on the XIX century literature readers views, on the statistical analisis of the XX century reading, which were published, surreys conreyed among high school leameners and students as well as own observations. The most important points were presenting factors contributing to the poets popularity among students in comparison to the general reading situation in Poland, and also establishing the Polish teachers’ role in the process of written word popularity increase. The article ends up with a number of proposals concerning the ways and solutions to the problems of general reading in our country, making Słowacki works more popular and making the students familiar with the poet’s heritage as well as updating the creations of the artist.
