In 2008 in Poland there were about 3.7 million registered enterprises and the majority of them were one-person firms. This boom makes us reflect on the entrepreneurship of Poles. Those issues have been the matter of interest of many practitioners and theorists of economics as well as the whole society. A common understanding of this term is usually connected with creativity, determination, domination, communication skills or risk taking. Polish society is very specific in that area, because its mentality was largely shaped by the history of the country. Fortunately, the passivity learned during the communism is more and more often replaced with enterprising attitudes. It is especially visible among young people, which is proven by the author's research. The results reveal that about 74% students of the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Management of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun (WNEiZ UMK) are willing to establish their own business.

Today's dynamic business environment forces a change in the marketing. Evidence of this are the new concepts in the area of marketing. Generally, there is a consensus about the fact that today's enterprise, to be able to survive on the market, is forced to implement the marketing approach. Meanwhile, many organizations that operate on Polish territory, seems to be oblivious to this relationship. This is confirmed in the results of a desk research on the status and development of marketing in companies operating in Poland, that are presented in the article. This research is a continuation of a research of similar scope, conducted in 2000-2002.

The main purpose is to present the concept of Organisational Citizenship Behaviours as one of forms of commitment of employees in sustainable management. Therefore, the author made use of critical analyses of literature and results of research conducted by other authors in renowned periodicals. The additional purpose of the article is to present results of own research (an online survey) relating to the scale and frequency of Organisational Citizenship Behaviours of employees in commune offices in Poland. Sustainable management has to be realised in three aspects, namely environmental, social, and economic; however, without commitment of employees, the process of implementation of sustainable management in an organisation has only an apparent (temporary) character. Organisational Citizenship Behaviours are a form of real commitment of staff in such management. Thus, an organisation should promote such behaviours among its employees.

Głównym celem artykułu jest zaprezentowanie koncepcji zachowań obywatelskich jako jednej z form zaangażowania pracowników w zrównoważone zarządzanie organizacją. Do realizacji celu posłużono się krytyczną analizą literatury i wyników badań innych autorów w renomowanych czasopismach. Celem dodatkowym jest zaprezentowanie wyników badania (metodą ankiety internetowej on-line) nt. skali i częstotliwości podejmowania zachowań obywatelskich przez pracowników urzędów gmin w Polsce. Zrównoważone zarządzanie musi odbywać się w trzech wymiarach: środowiskowym, społecznym i ekonomicznym, jednak bez zaangażowania pracowników, proces wdrażania w organizacji zrównoważonego zarządzania ma charakter pozorny (nietrwały). Zachowania obywatelskie są formą rzeczywistego zaangażowania personelu w takie zarządzanie. Organizacja powinna zatem promować tego typu zachowania wśród pracowników.

Основная цель статьи – представить концепцию гражданского поведения как одну из форм включения работников в устойчивое управление организа- цией.
