In referring to goodness as the mother of mercy, Tertullian showed that it is appropriate to look at mercy from the viewpoint of goodness. Thanks to such a concept, we are able to see that true mercy is driven by reason and justice. On the other hand, a similar relationship between patience and mercy allows us to see the role of mercy with an entire vision of the world after the sin of paradise.Mercy, which according to Tertullian flows from patience, is the remedy for the lack of mercy, which has its roots in impatience stemming from the devil. Therefore, mercy is the element for rebuilding and fixing the original good of the world destroyed by evil. Nevertheless, the condition for the effective attitude of mercy is its close bond with the working of reason and in keeping the principles of justice.

The article presents the initiatory nature of the eleventh chapter of the Epistle to Hebrews. The author of the Epistle, on the example of characters from the Old Testament, presents two patterns of faith development: individual and communal. These patterns correspond to the process of the pre-baptism initiation carried out in the ancient Church on three stages: encouragement, precatechumenate and catechumenate. The final extracts of the analysed chapter of the Epistole, interpreted with the use of initiation method, present the faith development of the baptised and their preparation to the martyrdom for faith in Jesus Christ.

The article delineates the process of formation of the ecclesial structure, presented in the Gospel according to St. Mark, from the founding of the first ecclesial community based on the οἰκία of Saimon and Andrew (cf. Mk 1:29) to the first miracle of multiplication of the loaves and fish (cf. Mk 6:34-44) which took place during the meeting of similar communities founded in Galilee. The inspiration for such an interpretation of this part of the Gospel according to Mark came from the oldest preserved commentary to this Gospel, written by Jerome of Stridon. The author, commenting on the healing the blind man from Bethsaida (cf. Mk 8:22-26) showed “home” as a symbol of the Church and presented a method of interpretation the Scriptures which enable us to read the message of the Gospel according to Mark in this way.

Artykuł ukazuje proces powstawania struktury eklezjalnej w Ewangelii według św. Marka, począwszy od powstania pierwszej wspólnoty domowego Kościoła w oparciu o οἰκία Szymona i Andrzeja (por. Mk 1,29) do momentu spotkania w czasie pierwszego cudu rozmnożenia chlebów i ryb (por.

The article attempts to prove the validity of Origen’s thesis that two versions of the Lord’s Prayer noted by evangelists Matthew and Luke represents two different prayers. To validate the thesis, the author interprets extracts from the New Testament by using the initiation method. Through this method he demonstrates that catechumens were probably taught the version of the Lord’s Prayer noted by Luke, while the version written by Mark could be destined for those who had been baptised.
