W artykule przedstawiono dzieje chłopskiego rodu Salamonów ze wsi Połomia na ziemi wodzisławskiej na Górnym Śląsku w okresie od początku XVIII do początku XX wieku, ze wskazaniem wpływu czynników zewnętrznych, w szczególności gospodarczych (m.in. skutki tzw. uwłaszczenia chłopów w Królestwie Pruskim w latach 1807–1865 i uprzemysłowienia z 2. połowy XIX wieku) oraz politycznych (m.in. polityka państwa pruskiego i konflikty zbrojne) na ich losy, w tym wymuszoną czynnikami ekonomicznymi (z powodu pauperyzacji) migrację zarobkową do górnośląskiego okręgu przemysłowego (przełom XIX i XX wieku).

The article presents the history of the Salamon peasant family from the village of Połomia in Wodzisław County in Upper Silesia, from the beginning of the eighteenth century to the early twentieth century. The author of the study put a special emphasis on indicating the impact of external factors, particularly economic (including the effects of the so-called enfranchisement of peasants in the Kingdom of Prussia between 1807 and 1865 and the industrialization of the second half of the nineteenth century) and political (including policies of the Prussian state and armed conflicts) on the fate of the family, including forced by economic factors (mostly the impoverishment) labor migration to the Upper Silesian industrial region (between the nineteenth and twentieth century).
