The article presents the test results among young catholic priests (The Diocese of Rzeszow) using the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and the SIFT method of biblical hermeneutics and liturgical preaching. A sample of 54 young parish vicars completed a measure of psychological type. Then they read Mark 1, 29-39 and recorded their evaluations of the four reflections on this pasage derived from the SIFT method. Part of these (N=28) read also a healing story from Mark 9, 14-29 and then chose between interpretive statements designed to appeal to particular psychological preferences. In the context of preaching workshop four groups cluster together dominant sensing types, dominant intuitive types, dominant feeling types, and dominant thinking types developed homilies consistent with their dominant psychological-type preferences. The results of researches and analyses largery provide support for the psychological principles underpinning the SIFT method and encourage the development the capacity of preachers to extend their preaching voice in light of insights offered by the SIFT approach.
