Few years ago, a poem by Karol Wojtyła, entitled „Przełom”, that is „The Turning Point”, was discovered. Written between 1942 and 1945, the reflection of young seminarian Karol begins with questions, and a personal and very significant answer: „It is thus that the Gothic of the soul and the Renaissance of the body fight in me”. The Gothic aspect indicates the sensitivity to the spiritual world of the future Pope. The Renaissance of the body is linked to its sporting nature and the desire to open to the true relationship with every man, the friendship. This study focuses its research around these two aspects of the internal integration of Karol Wojtyła, showing their development in pastoral and scientific research in the context of its Polish origins.

For all readers of the text of the Lumen Gentium constitution of the Second Vatican Council during this event, and also immediately afterwards, it seemed that the document focused solely on the explanation of the Church from the perspective of Christ. Some of the conciliar observers, espe- cially the Orthodox theologians, brought up criticism that the reflection of the Council was marked by a Christomonism. This study presents the question of the pneumatological implications of the ecclesiology contained in the Lumen Gentium constitution from the perspective of Yves Congar’s theological thought. As the analysis of the undertaken research will show, the answer of the French theologian not only provides an essential response to the objection of Christomonism based on a direct commitment of this theologian to the co-writing of Lumen Gentium as early as March 1963, but it also gives a thorough insight into the subject-matter referring to his theological achievements already before and mainly after the Council. The Dogmatic Constitution on the Church has a dis- tinct pneumatological dimension. The theology contained therein is related to all the theses on the subject as they were formulated by Yves Congar in 1973.

Każda historia ma swój początek. Większość historii ma swój koniec. Próba syntetycznej analizy historii początku Odnowy w Duchu Świętym w Kościele rzymskokatolickim okazuje się zderzać z pewną wstępną rzeczywistością: owa historia nie tylko nie ma konkretnego początku, lecz także nie ma swojego zakończenia. To historia wciąż otwarta. Obchodząc niedawno (2017 r.) jej pięćdziesiąte urodziny w Kościele rzymskokatolickim, przyjęto za datę pierwotnego odniesienia doświadczenie de facto tylko symboliczne. Dzień otrzymania charyzmatów przez członków niewielkiej grupy amerykańskich studentów 18 lutego 1967 r. w Pittsburghu (Pensylwania) w Stanach Zjednoczonych to data i miejsce tylko umowne. Ani ów moment, ani owo wydarzenie nie wyczerpują bowiem ogromnego i o wiele rozleglejszego charyzmatycznego doświadczenia Ducha Świętego w Kościele, które można dostrzec w różnych i licznych momentach historii Kościoła. Niniejsze studium podejmuje próbę wyjaśnienia owego jednostkowego doświadczenia z perspektywy analizy istotnych elementów pierwszej strukturyzacji charyzmatycznego odrodzenia w Kościele rzymskokatolickim w XX w. Studium to jest też próbą syntetycznego spojrzenia na historię wydarzeń, jak również na tworzących ją autorów, m.in. Ralpha Martina, Steve’a Clarka, Gerry’ego Raucha, Weronikę O’Brien, kardynała Léona-Jospeha Suenensa i papieża Pawła VI.

Every story has its beginning. Most stories have their end. An attempt at a synthetic analysis of the history of the beginning of the Charismatic Renewal in the Roman Catholic Church turns out to be confronted with a  certain initial reality: not only does this history not have a specific beginning, but it also has no end. It is a story that is still open. In celebrating its fiftieth birthday in the Roman Catholic Church recently (2017), a symbolic experience was taken as the original reference date. The receipt of charisms by members of a small group of American students on 18 February 1967, in Pittsburgh (Pennsylvania) in the United States, is a date and place that is in a sense only symbolic. Neither that moment nor that event exhausts the vast and much broader charismatic experience of the Holy Spirit in the Church, which can be seen in various and numerous moments in the history of the Church. This study efforts to explain this singular experience from the perspective of analysing the essential elements of the first structuring of the Charismatic Renewal in the Roman Catholic Church in the 20th century. The study is also an attempt at a synthetic look at the history, but also at its authors, including Ralph Martin, Steve Clark, Gerry Rauch, Veronica O'Brien, Cardinal Léon-Joseph Suenens and Pope Paul VI.

Since the Second Vatican Council, the adage Ecclesia semper reformanda is no longer simply a phrase associated with the Church and a Protestant reformation. The reform that Vatican II broadly undertook in the mid-20th century Catholic Church highlights the need for an aggiornamento, particularly a pastoral one, for the whole Church and presents it as an ongoing challenge. This article explores Cardinal Giacomo Lercaro's vision of the episcopal ministry in relation to synodality and the Church's continuous reform.

Depuis le Concile Vatican II, l’adage Ecclesia semper reformanda n’est plus simplement une sentence associée à l’Église et une réformation protestante. La réforme que Vatican II a largement entreprise dans le cadre de l’Église catholique du milieu du XXe siècle montre le besoin d’un aggiornamento surtout pastoral de l’Église toute entière et le présente comme un défi continuel. Cet article explore la vision du cardinal Giacomo Lercaro concernant le ministère épiscopal en lien avec la synodalité et la réforme continue de l’Église.
